Messa Announce US Tour with Maggot Heart
It was somewhat inevitable, I guess, that Messa would come to the US to tour. They’ve crisscrossed Europe already in support of their 2022 album, Close (review here), and given the broad swath of plaudits that record continues to receive, the demand is legitimately there in a way it isn’t always for bands traveling from Europe for Stateside shows. The US has a reputation as being a more difficult touring sphere than Europe in no small part — long drives, scrounging meals, and so on — but sharing those burdens with co-headliners Maggot Heart should take some of the sting out. And in any case, Messa no doubt have a touring routine down that will be applicable as they go coast-to-coast and hit spots in between.
Only one chance to see them the first time, and this is a band you might just brag about seeing. Dates from socials:

Nice, I’m a fan of both bands. Just bought a ticket for the LPR show.
I caught Maggot Heart sandwiched betwixt Earthless and Sacri Monti in ’19. They for sure were the odd, far more song structured-based band that evening, having to compete with the looser jams of the other bands, which put, at least me, in a conflicting earspace – not unenjoyable, just sort of found it hard to switch gears from 1st to 4th then back to 1st. Like a sine wave that’s transitionally chunky vs. smooth, but then, I hadn’t heard them before. I think in a smaller venue like KFN opening for Messa, longer-form but still more structured than Earthless (not that their jams aren’t expertly and meticulously crafted) should probably make for a smoother transition. Never seen Messa before so yeah, KFN beckons. Again. If they can both fly over from across the pond, least I can do is drive 45 minutes to hear them play.
Was just listening to Close on vinyl today and though I would see what was up with the band! I am so stoked to see they are playing SF in November(#129304#)(#129304#)
