Friday Full-Length: Lucifer’s Friend, Lucifer’s Friend

Lucifer’s Friend, Lucifer’s Friend (1970)

Apologies for the lack of posts these last two days. As I said last week, I’ve got company in from out of town and I just wasn’t about to make a guest wait six hours today for me to sort photos and write a review of last night’s Mirror Queen and Blaak Heat Shujaa show. I’ll wait until Monday, then I’ll get something posted on that one. Tuesday, I’ll follow it with Devil to Pay and Mollusk, whom I saw tonight.

I did do just a little — just a smidgen really — of record shopping today though, but I think I picked up enough to put together a Buried Treasure post for next week, which I haven’t done in a while. Yesterday I got hit with a pretty intense bill for some car repair, so while there was plenty I left behind at Armageddon Shop today, I still came out of there with a few discs. Hard to leave that place empty-handed.

Next week, look out for those, and since I’ve had a request for it, I might finally get that Red Fang interview up in addition to those live reviews. I’ve also got some more vinyl I’ll be writing about and a tape from The Golden Grass that’ll be discussed and other stuff as well. Maybe a podcast? We’ll see how the week pans out. Definitely a track stream or two.

But until then, it’s getting on 3AM and I wanted to close out the week with something classic enough to be called classic, but that’s still underappreciated in the sphere of heavy, and so the 1970 self-titled from Lucifer’s Friend, which is essential for opener “Ride the Sky” alone, never mind everything else, seemed like the way to go. I’ll probably put the laptop down and be asleep in like three seconds, which I’m fine with. I should be so lucky.

I hope you have a great and safe weekend as always. I’m already looking forward to getting up tomorrow, putting on the radio stream and making a pot of coffee. The morning routine all the way. See you back here Monday for that live review and more wholesome chicanery. Till then and after, please hit up the forum and the Obelisk Radio stream.
