Here’s that New Queens of the Stone Age Song all the Kids are Talking About

Yeah sure, the video of Queens of the Stone Age doing new song “My God is the Sun” at Lollapalooza in Brazil got like 300,000-plus views in a span of about 30 hours. Sure. It’s kind of a big deal. Well, fine. In case you didn’t see it on the rest of the internet, here it is. Fuck you, peer pressure.

QOTSA‘s new album, Like Clockwork, is due in June on Matador Records. You might recognize drummer Jon Theodore in the video from The Mars Volta.

    Nice performance!

It’s dumb for me to want Queens to return to their original sound, but there it is. I can’t get into anything after the third record, sorry Queens, it was a fun ride while it lasted.

Nice jam, that Mars Volta dude kicks ass on the kit…but can we just retire the “Queens” name and call this new record what it is-DESERT SESSIONS 11 & 12. Elton John for fuck sake? Dude from Arctic Monkeys? THREE drummers-who ISN’T on the fucking thing?

  4. MOAT says:

I agree with GoAT except they shouldn’t call it Desert Sessions. The new albums from that lineup should all be solo Josh Homme (or do you really believe that Fertita, Shuman and even Van Leeuwen have an equal say in the writing and recording process?).

If you know the history of QOTSA, they rotate through amazing musicians throughout their career. QOTSA is more of a collective, instead of a band. It’s always been that way. There’s technically over 30 members. Why is there an issue with having different musicians on an album? I love the idea. And why not bring Elton John, he’s a badass musician, and that’s what this is about, right? Music?
