These remain busy times for Kiev heavy rockers Stoned Jesus. After hitting the US for the first time to play Psycho California in May, touring Europe this summer and playing Desertfest Belgium 2015 this fall, the trio continue to keep occupied. In September, they posted a single “The Harvest” as a download, the song sharing a title with their 2015 album (review here) but nonetheless not appearing on it, and in January, they’ll align with booming Italian imprint Heavy Psych Sounds for a vinyl and CD release of their 2011 EP, Stormy Monday.

Call it a reissue if you want, but I’m not actually sure Stormy Monday, which was put together by Igor Sidorenko of Stoned Jesus after a split with his rhythm section, has ever been physically pressed, so yeah. As Stoned Jesus have also been recently confirmed for an appearance at Hellfest next summer, it looks like they’ll continue to stay busy for the foreseeable future.

The label — who also have other news today still to come — posted the announcement of the release like this:

HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS RECORDS is stoked to announce that *** Stoned Jesus *** are going to release a magic EP with us called “Stormy Monday” late January.

Five years ago, around this very time, Stoned Jesus was merely a single person – Igor himself. “First Communion” rhythm section left for good, and future seemed vague. Nevertheless some weeks later a new line-up was working on what became Stoned Jesus’ first – and so far, the only – EP release, entitled “Stormy Monday EP”. Featuring a namesake epic ballad in two versions, a haunting Red Temple Spirits cover (“Bear Cave”) and a 2-min long ode to booze and sex (“Drunk And Horny”), this short release was a surprising change both in quality and style, a sign of better things to take shape soon, in form of now-legendary “Seven Thunders Roar” LP…

Now “Stormy Monday EP” is available on vinyl for the first time ever, with original artwork and original songs on it, to commemorate its 5th anniversary and to give you a taste of 2011’s Stoned Jesus – exclusively through Heavy Psych Sounds Records!
