The announcement below is combined from two social media posts by Belgian festival Obsidian Dust, which recently-ish released the second batch of names for its May 2026 edition and subsequently revealed the day splits for who’s playing when. That’s always a fun moment in anticipating a schedule, so you’ll see in the poster here that’s the breakdown. Whether you’re there for the topline big names or the bottom-poster stuff, which is also awesome, I don’t really see a way to lose if you’re going, though I know Spring is a busy time for everybody.

But oof, this looks cool. Gnome and Coilguns lead this announcement, but you’ll also see Coltaine and Fange here, the latter of whom recently collaborated on the last Author and Punisher LP, among others. They say as well there’s more coming, though with the day splits on the poster it doesn’t say more TBA anywhere, so I’m not sure if it still applies. I’ll do my best to keep up if more names surface, and if you’re headed to Brussels in May, I get it.

Coilguns will unleash a chaotic blast of hardcore, noise rock and experimental metal. Wizard hats on, riffs up — Gnome will deliver playful but thunderous stoner rock packed with groove and fantasy. And Coltaine will rise from haunting calm to towering doom against a post-metal wall of sound.

Will be coming along for the Obsidian Dust ride as well: the wild punk blast of FRENZEE, the crushing industrial sludge by Fange, the cosmic drone rituals from Neptunian Maximalism – NNMM, the gritty sludge-hardcore of Crouch, and the expansive doom atmospheres by Echo Solar Void.

Ignoring decades of warnings from geological experts about the earth-rending that would happen if cosmic doom titans Ufomammut and YOB were ever to share a bill, Belgium’s Obsidian Dust — which, I guess, is also a description that applies to said scenario — have confirmed YOB for their lineup for just one of the two Euro shows the Oregonian trio will play this year. The other is Desertfest Berlin, so I guess if you’re in Europe and you wanna see YOB, there you go.

YOB aren’t the only add here, though. There’s Piss (not to be confused with Mrs. Piss, mind you), countrymen instrumentalists Apex Ten, Swedish melodic psych rockers Gaupa, Lili Refrain, Earthbong, Meatdripper (who I don’t know but am ready to learn based on their name), the esteemed Fuzz Sagrado and Satanic Witch. It’s a diverse bunch, to say the least of it, and with King Buffalo, Acid King, Blackwater Holylight, Earthless, Hermano and Gnod elsewhere on the bill, there’s a lot a lot a lot to like.

The fest is a two-dayer set for May 16 and 17 in Brussels, and the info for the new adds came through social media, which is how these things happen nowadays. I believe them when they say it’s going to be awesome.

And the dust keeps rising with a wild mix of sounds: from the hardcore punch of PISS, the psychedelic waves of GAUPA, and Lili Refrain’s hypnotic ritual, to the crushing riffs of Meatdripper and Earthbong, the stoner grooves of Fuzz Sagrado & Surya Kris Peters, Apex Ten heavy drive, and the black metal-laden mystique of Satanic Witch.

This is the second announcement from the second year of Obsidian Dust, which will be held in Brussels next May as a Springtime complement to Desertfest Belgium in Antwerp in Fall. The lineup, as you can see in the poster, is compelling. Red Fang will headline — fair — and they and Ufomammut and Gnod are the big names joining here, but you can see The Sword, King Buffalo, Acid King, Earthless, Jarboe, Blackwater Holylight and John Garcia-fronted rockers Hermano already confirmed to take part, and it looks like a banger of a two-dayer perfectly slotted in among the Spring Desertfests (London, Berlin, Oslo) to take advantage of who’ll be touring around that time. Plus, you’ve got Dope Purple, which is really all you need when you get right down to it.
