In addition to the nine new names added to the bill — those being Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Lili Refrain, Wolvennest, Kaleidobolt, Håndgemeng, 30,000 Monkies, Spirit Mother, Law of All and Apex Ten — below, you’ll find the day splits for Desertfest Belgium 2026 as they stand now, and holy moly that looks like a good time. The venerable, now-Liège-based Fall-flagship edition of the Desertfest brand has only grown stronger and more expansive throughout the decade-thus far (once, you know, that was possible), and from the international reach of its headliners, Sólstafir from Iceland, Uncle Acid from the UK, Monolord from Sweden and Boris from Japan, to regional and familiar domestic Belgian highlights like Wolvennest and Apex Ten, to Hippie Death Cult and Yawning Man and Mondo Drag and Spirit Mother and Early Moods (did I miss anybody?) from the US West Coast, Duel from Texas and Khan from Australia, the point is how much the scope of the three-day event has grown.

I’d go to this in a minute if I could. I don’t know if I say that every year — probably — but I certainly think it.

From social media:

Hi Desertheads

Here are the last additions to our fabulous Desertfest Belgium bill!

The new bands ready to rock out are:

The powerful sty of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs • the visceral catharsis of Lili Refrain • the divine lupine Wolvennest • the striking power trio KALEIDOBOLT • the undisputed heavy rock champions of Håndgemeng • the “painbow” champagnemetal of 30,000 Monkies • the mustang wrangling Spirit Mother • the criminally inclusive Law of All • and the A-class riffs of Apex Ten!

Oh boy, we’re really looking forward to this one!

An overview of the day splits can be found over here on our website.

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Death Hilarious (2025)

Ignoring decades of warnings from geological experts about the earth-rending that would happen if cosmic doom titans Ufomammut and YOB were ever to share a bill, Belgium’s Obsidian Dust — which, I guess, is also a description that applies to said scenario — have confirmed YOB for their lineup for just one of the two Euro shows the Oregonian trio will play this year. The other is Desertfest Berlin, so I guess if you’re in Europe and you wanna see YOB, there you go.

YOB aren’t the only add here, though. There’s Piss (not to be confused with Mrs. Piss, mind you), countrymen instrumentalists Apex Ten, Swedish melodic psych rockers Gaupa, Lili Refrain, Earthbong, Meatdripper (who I don’t know but am ready to learn based on their name), the esteemed Fuzz Sagrado and Satanic Witch. It’s a diverse bunch, to say the least of it, and with King Buffalo, Acid King, Blackwater Holylight, Earthless, Hermano and Gnod elsewhere on the bill, there’s a lot a lot a lot to like.

The fest is a two-dayer set for May 16 and 17 in Brussels, and the info for the new adds came through social media, which is how these things happen nowadays. I believe them when they say it’s going to be awesome.

Dig it:

Yob will headline Saturday at Obsidian Dust 2026!

They’re flying in for an exclusive show, one of just two European dates in 2026.

And the dust keeps rising with a wild mix of sounds: from the hardcore punch of PISS, the psychedelic waves of GAUPA, and Lili Refrain’s hypnotic ritual, to the crushing riffs of Meatdripper and Earthbong, the stoner grooves of Fuzz Sagrado & Surya Kris Peters, Apex Ten heavy drive, and the black metal-laden mystique of Satanic Witch.

No surprise here in that it’s almost all surprises; that’s just kind of how it goes at Roadburn these days. Acid Mothers Temple (for a residency), the ethereal reach of Lili Refrain, Planning for Burial doing drone and not, some rap because that still counts as transgression, and a heaping dose of noise and avant sounds — yeah, that’s a Roadburn lineup announcement. You say you’ve heard of like three of these acts and that’s it? Well yeah, that’s how Roadburn does. You think to yourself, I’m gonna go see like the seven bands I know and that’s gonna be plenty anyway and then you spend like a week discovering brilliant new music. Might as well start early.

To wit, I’ve never heard Bosse-de-Nage. So I’m gonna go listen to some Bosse-de-Nage and get myself educated. See how this works? Maybe by April I’ll be dying to see them. I don’t know if I’ll be at Roadburn next year or not — one always hopes, but it’s not up to me, and one of these years that festival is going to realize they need me there like they need a hole in their head — but the likely scenario is I’ll still have found something cool to listen to, and that’s a win no matter other outcomes.

The PR wire sent the full update thusly:

Roadburn adds Acid Mothers Temple, Yellow Eyes, ELUCID and more to 2026 line-up

Roadburn has added another 18 artists to the 2026 festival line up, including Artists In Residence Acid Mothers Temple, black metal band Yellow Eyes, and rapper ELUCID. Roadburn 2026 will take place between April 16-19 in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

Roadburn’s Artistic Director, Walter Hoeijmakers comments:

“As the underground continues to shift and evolve, this latest announcement pushes the Roadburn 2026 vision even further. Each new addition widens the scope of what this year’s edition can become – sharpening its spirit, deepening its identity, and reflecting the full, ever-expanding blueprint of heaviness today.

“We are celebrating artists who challenge themselves, who embrace change, and who boldly carry the underground forward. In doing so, we remain grounded in what drives us: curiosity, connection, and the belief that music can help us navigate whatever lies ahead.

“With every step, the picture grows clearer. With every artist, the excitement builds. And with everyone who joins us, Roadburn 2026 moves closer to becoming exactly what it’s meant to be.”

Lili Refrain, Live in London – Hammersmith Apollo (2024)

Yeah, there are some longer songs here. Truth be told, I wanted that. I wanted the show to have a flow from one track to the next. A lot of it is a pretty dug-in, trippier vibe. There’s some light and dark, and when you get to Wild Rocket and YOB that’s a kind of blasting point that I acknowledge in the subsequent voice track too, but I get two hours every other week to do this thing and I had a specific idea for how I wanted to use it this time.

Does that matter? I don’t know. I just want you to listen to Moura and Okkoto because those records has been laying waste to my soul of late. Lili Refrain I was put onto last weekend or somewhere thereabouts and I wanted to check out more, so there you go, and I feel punk rock guilt for missing Blackwater Holylight and BleakHeart when they came through — to be fair, I had/kinda-still-have the plague — and I thought that I’d probably be the only person on Gimme to play something like Magick Brother & Mystic Sister, so after having closed out last week with that on the site, the temptating to include it was too much to resist. Everything else was built off that.

I did my best to make a good show. If you listen, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks if you listen, thanks if you’re reading. Thanks in general.

Big update from Desertfest Belgium 2021. After recently unveiling some cancelations and following up with a list of the precautionary measures being taken to deal with happening during a pandemic, the Antwerp and Ghent-based editions of the festival both receive a round of lineup additions. Greece’s 1000mods will take part in both, while the likes of Electric Moon and Stoned Jesus join Ghent, and Monkey3 and Slift and Temple Fang confirmed for Antwerp. I’m not sure ultimately how many acts the two Desertfest Belgiums — Belgii? — will share between them, but with Ghent happening on one day and Antwerp happening across three, there’s bound to be significant variation. Looks like that’s happening here already, and take note of Ohio’s Frayle making the trip for Ghent. Hope they can get out of the US to make it in time, or that the EU hasn’t banned our infectious asses by then.

It’s nice to think about these things every day, isn’t it? Doesn’t it just feel like the way humanity was meant to live? Not at all a drain on one’s entire being.

I digress. Constantly. Here’s info from the PR wire:

DFBE21: A MASSIVE 20 NEW NAMES FOR ANTWERP & GHENT!

1000MODS playing both events, Monkey3, Stoned Jesus & much much more

Strap in folks, because this is going to be a ride.. after all the hassle with COVID and cancels, let’s have some great to even greater news about both festivals shall we? We have a whole slew of names for you and if we may say so ourselves: we’re positively STOKED about all of these. Scene favourites, new and upcoming acts, local gems to discover.. we have it all. Here we go!

First of all: the Greek stoner sensation 1000MODS will be playing Antwerp as well as Ghent. We love ‘em, you love ‘em, their mother loves ‘em – everybody loves ‘em, okay! They need no further introduction so let’s move on to another favourite that will grace the stage in Ghent: STONED JESUS is coming to town, and you all know what that means. Killer grooves and a mighty good time. We’re also extremely excited to have DELVING on board which is the new project of ELDER frontman Nick DiSalvo. This will be one of their first shows after the album dropped in June, and we can already tell you this one’s gonna be something special.

ALL NEW NAMES FOR DF GHENT: 1000MODS, STONED JESUS, DELVING, LILI REFRAIN, ELECTRIC MOON, NERO DI MARTE, HEMELBESTORMER, FRAYLE, IGNATZ, MODDER

Moving on to Antwerp, we’re looking forward to revisit the audiovisual extravaganza of MONKEY3 who completely killed it at our last edition. For more spaced-out craziness, YURI GAGARIN is always a safe choice so let’s go with that. With VILLAGERS OF IOANNINA CITY we have the second Greek band on the bill, with a more leftfield sound but no less essential.

ALL NEW NAMES FOR DF ANTWERP: MONKEY3, VILLAGERS OF IOANNINA CITY, 1000MODS, YURI GAGARIN, SLIFT, ALKERDEEL, ATOMIC VULTURE, TEMPLE FANG, DAILY THOMPSON, BISMUT, FAKE INDIANS.

We still have a few names up our sleeve, but we hope this whopper list goes a long way to get you stoked. Please remember that we have installed a COVID info page on our websites, where you can check what to do in order to come fully prepared to the festival. We’re updating it as we go, and we try to help out our non-EU visitors as well. Make sure to read it to avoid disappointments at the entrance.
