Particularly if you live in this part of the world, you may have heard murmurations in the NYC heavy underground of …In the Key of Doom over the last few months, as Gav’s Heavily Curated has been carefully laying the groundwork for its inaugural two-dayer set for this October. The Meadows, in Brooklyn, will host the event, which brings Greenleaf to NYC for the first time and will feature the likes of Bongripper, Insomniac, Howling Giant, High Desert Queen, Crystal Spiders, as well as Seismic and Grave Bathers from Philly, Leather Lung from Mass, Afghan Haze from CT and maybe you wherever you come from.

Looking ahead on the calendar, Oct. 2 is a Friday (and thus the 3rd is Saturday, duh), and with 11 acts total, I’m assuming it’ll be five one night and six the next, plus the lightshow, and considering the bands involved, that’ll be plenty to make a start. New York is a famously terrible town to do a festival, between the most spoiled audience in the world, the cost of any and everything, and the fact that nothing lasts because sooner or later it’s all going to get turned into investment-condos. I salute Gav’s Heavily Curated for persisting in the face of history and good sense — the truest sign of passion, and no, I’m not being sarcastic — and I hope to be there to see this one play out that early October weekend.
