Fuzz Covers The Kinks on New Split 7″ Single Out Now

Posted in Whathaveyou on January 14th, 2014 by JJ Koczan

Nifty Cali-based proto-whathaveyou rockers Fuzz made quite a splash last year with their self-titled debut on In the Red Records, informing a whole bunch of heavy rock heads who Ty Segall is while simultaneously hipping indie types to the ways of the riff and what happens when your band allows its rhythm section to, well, be a rhythm section. Today, Brooklyn label Famous Class issues a new split 7″ featuring Fuzz covering The Kinks‘ “Till the End of the Day” and San Francisco’s CCR Headcleaner. The fancy version of the vinyl is gone, and I’ve seen another Fuzz-related 7″ going for some silly amount of money on the eBays, so I thought maybe if you dug/dig that album, you might want to check this out before they’re gone. Money also goes to making school less terrible for creative children, which is nice.

Ty Segall’s FUZZ releases a new split 7″ today with CCR Headcleaner for Famous Class’ LAMC Series

Famous Class’ Less Artists More Condos series releases a new single today of FUZZ covering The Kink’s “Till The End of The Day”, with CCR Headcleaner rounding out the latest Famous Class’ 7″ series

All digital proceeds go to charity to the Ariel Panero VH1 Save The Music Foundation

For Famous Class’ 10th release in their Less Artists More Condos series, the Brooklyn labels has rolled something out special with the release of a 7″ from Ty Segall’s rippin’ new project FUZZ, completing the split 7″ they have chosen San Francisco sludge punkers CCR Headcleaner. The limited edition mustard/milky white splatter 7″ is already sold out but you can buy copies of the black vinyl directly from Famous Class HERE.

In loving memory of their dear friend and label partner, the late Ariel Panero, the Brooklyn-based label Famous Class started the Less Artist More Condos series of 7″s. The series gets its name from the epic Less Artists More Condos concerts that Ariel threw, showcasing amazing bands in some strange and unique venues. Ariel’s driving force was a desire to get the bands he believed in the recognition he felt they deserved. This series simply tries to honor that idea. For each LAMC split 7” Famous Class asked one of their favorite bands to provide them with an unreleased track for the A-side. They were then asked to pick their favorite emerging artist to provide a track for the B-side. So far we’ve seen releases from Cass McCombs, White Magic, A Place To Bury Strangers, Ceremony, Future Islands, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Thee Oh Sees, The Mallard, Deerhoof, Half Waif, Ty Segall, Lower Dens, Xiu Xiu, Hunx and many more. Today Famous Class welcomes three new exciting additions to their series. Like how Ariel’s LAMC shows introduced New Yorkers to bands they might not have otherwise discovered – Famous Class hope that this series will do the same.

The digital versions of LAMC 1-10 are currently available for purchase on the FAMOUS CLASS bandcamp page with 100% of the proceeds going to the Ariel Panero Memorial Fund at VH1 Save the Music.
