My only question here is if Greenleaf‘s new album is coming out in September. In my mind, I had it as a 2027 possibility, but the Swedish stalwarts are traveling to the US for Ripplefest Texas and …In the Key of Doom (they’ll be in Las Vegas next January for Planet Desert Rock Weekend as well), are already touring this Spring, and will likely be out again in Fall around this and other appearances TBA. I feel like that’s an awful lot of groundwork for not actually being when the record arrives. I mean, we’ll see, and sometimes a band tours before the album is out — it’s by no means unheard of, especially for a touring band — but it’s hard not to get my hopes up the more I see their name banied about for 2026 doings.

They’re joined in this second lineup announcement by 1000mods, Krallice, Khemmis, Ahab, Daily Thompson, Deathchant and Eyes, so indeed, Desertfest Belgium 2026 is bringing a notion of stylistic variety as close to the outset as it possibly could, last week’s lone reveal being Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats. No doubt the expansion will continue across geographies actual and aesthetic, and as Desertfest takes place for the first time in Liège, it’s encouraging to see a continuity of banger lineups.

Greenleaf, Live at Rock im Wald 2025

Desertfest Belgium, which as previously announced will take place in Oct. 2026 in Liège at the Om venue (lest you see Om on the poster and be confused), is on a fierce streak as regards lineups. Each year has expanded a bit while keeping a firm grip on where it’s coming from in terms of rock. They’ve celebrated local bands and brought in acts from other continents. Headliners and up and comers, all choice picks at just the right time.

That they’ve started off the 2026 announcements with Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats speaks of continued ambitions toward growth. The festival has said that they’ll announce eight acts next week, and that’s super and I probably could’ve waited and just done the nine all together instead of piecing the artwork and first-band reveals as I did below from socials, but honestly, Uncle Acid are enough to carry a news post on their own, I dig the art, and who the hell knows where my mind will be next week. Maybe I’ll miss the whole thing. Hopefully not, but I’ve done this long enough to know where my weaknesses lie, and they lie pretty much wherever the hell they feel like at that moment.

Weekend tickets are up and you’ll find that link below, amid the aforementioned posts. I’d expect Uncle Acid to be touring around this time, so keep an eye for dates and I’ll do the same. For now:

Uncle Acid and the deadbeats will be gracing our stage come October.

The brainchild of Kevin Starrs, Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats have been making extraordinary music since 2009. Masterfully echoing the magical atmospheres of heavy music’s turbulent past, while sounding entirely unlike anything else available to human ears. Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats continues to be the deadliest show in town. And they are coming to Liège this fall!

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Nell’ Ora Blu (2024)

Might seem like bookkeeping, but I bet if you’ve ever been to Deserfest Belgium in the years it’s been held in Antwerp it’s a difference you’d consider notable — which I say with no knowledge of either venue or city. The difference is Antwerp to Liège, and the new venue in question is called Om, because why not, and Desertfest Belgium will be held there for the first time this October. There are no bands announced yet, but the festival put its early-bird tickets on sale yesterday only to have them go in, I don’t know, like two hours or somesuch, and so regular tickets are on sale now. I’ve never been. I nonetheless advise you to go if you can. The lineups they’ve put together, especially the last few years, have been stellar, even among the glut of Fall festivals held throughout Western Europe.

So yeah, as they say, ‘same ritual, new ground.’ I don’t know what’s behind the move, but that’s secondary to the fact of the thing itself anyway. I’ll keep an eye for the first namedrops, hopefully keep ahead of the deluge.

Desertfest Belgium is taking place in Liège this year. The new DF26 venue is called OM – a beautiful building with a great atmosphere, and very easily accessible from the city centre. You can find more info about the venue on our website.

Just to make sure there is no confusion: Desertfest in Liège will be the only Desertfest festival in Belgium in 2026. As always the festival will last 3 days (16-18 october).
