Cervus: Debut Album Axis Out Nov. 13; “Black Masquerade” Streaming Now
The opening track and first single “Black Masquerade” from the debut album from Amsterdam’s Cervus — titled Axis and out Nov. 13 — is an interesting proposition, not quite sounding like what the band have put out before. Of course, three years after their atmospheric/heavy-psych-leaning Shifting Sands EP (review here), they’re certainly entitled (and encouraged) to grow and figure out who they are as a band on the way to their debut full-length, but no question “Black Masquerade” tilts the balance toward grounded, straightforward heavy rock, maybe even informed by traditional metal a bit, and I’m curious to see if they’re setting up a balance, or how the rest of the album will play out.
Nov. 13 is the release date, so I guess I have a little time, but the first single is up now with preorders and there’s apparently another coming at the end of next month, so at least we’ll know more before the record actually comes out. For now, here’s what I’ve got from their Bandcamp:
CERVUS – Axis
Cult of Cervus! We are very proud to announce the upcoming release of our debut album “Axis” on Friday November 13th 2026. Pre-order it now, here on bandcamp and keep your eyes and ears peeled for more news! We have worked long and hard to make this dream come true, and can’t wait to blast it through your ear drums.
We will release it on vinyl (Double LP gatefold with lyrics sheet), CD, digital and even limited edition casette tape. More on that soon!
On Friday October 9th our first single “Black Masquerade” will be released, followed by the second single “Fading From View” on Friday October 30th. If you pre-order the album on bandcamp you will get exclusive early acces to these singles right away!
Both will be available on many online platforms, but of course if you want to really support us, the best place to do that it either by buying some merch at a live show, or by buying merch from us here on bandcamp.
