Darsombra Sol Announce Fall Live Appearances
Shadow Woods anything is rad. I never went when it was a public fest, but every year it was held, it was a stylistic swath that was drawn together by the quality and individualized approaches of its lineup and the Shadow Woods Reunion — which is also low-key a fest, mind you — operates much on the same ethic. Darsombra was a regular, so that Brian Daniloski is headed back as Darsombra Sol as he continues to find a way to move forward after the devastating loss of creative/life partner Ann Everton last Fall, it only makes sense that Shadow Woods Reunion is on the agenda.
That said, I’ll admit this November date — Arbouretum, Stinking Lizaveta, Deathbird Earth and Darsombra Sol — has me thinking hard about driving to Baltimore. I’ve only seen Arbouretum once and it was years ago, but they were great, and Stinking Lizaveta, none better. Deathbird Earth intrigued earlier this year with an immediate slew of deeply creative outings that make me think they’d be a blast on stage, and of course Daniloski‘s drone experimentations make a killer start to the proceedings. A four-band bill on a Friday night is doable. I could drive down early in the day and head back north Saturday morning. It’s about three and a half hours in the car. Again, I’m thinking about it.

I hope you are enjoying the change of seasons wherever you are. There are many Darsombra projects and collaborations in the works-which I will let you know about in a future newsletter-but in the meantime, Darsombra Sol has some upcoming fall season shows.

The Shadow Woods Reunion Campout at Stoney Creek Campground in Great Cacapon, WV is this month from September 25-27. Darsombra Sol will be performing along with many others. This is a camping fest, so you need to register in advance (by September 17) if you wish to go. There will be no walk-up admission.
This one is going to be a banger that you don’t want to miss! The campsite is right along a river (a local outfitter offers kayaks and tubes). The event is BYOB and BYO food, with beer, wine, and hot food also available for purchase on site. And if that isn’t enough, how about hot showers and flush toilets! All you need to bring is a tent or small camper.
Shadow Woods Campout Reunion 2025 was Ann Everton’s last performance, so we are planning something very special for this. Come celebrate with us!
