Solitude Aeturnus Welcome New Vocalist James-Paul Luna
If you caught Solitude Aeturnus at this year’s Maryland Deathfest — first of all, nice — but you probably noticed vocals were handled by Jason McMaster (Watchtower, Dangerous Toys, etc.) and not Robert Lowe, their longtime frontman with whom the band parted ways earlier this year. McMaster did three festivals shows with Solitude Aeturnus — two in Greece this past March, plus MDF in May — and the band has announced that the full-time vocalist role has passed to James-Paul Luna, probably best known for his time in Holy Grail, but who’s also been in White Wizzard, Intranced, Jet Fuel and other projects.
The band’s first show with this configuration will be at this September’s Candelabrum Festival in León, Mexico, and that’s next month, so while it might not seem like they’re rushing to get out there, that’s still just a few weeks away. Solitude Aeturnus‘ last album was released 20 years ago this year, which is somewhat astonishing to think of, and without giving any specifics, the band talks about “unleashing a new chapter of doom together,” which neither specifically means a record nor doesn’t. As to what comes next for the band after the slot at Candelabrum, your guess is as good as mine, but I don’t think you chase down a new singer for just one show, so presumably they’ll be continuing on from there in some capacity or other.
