Guhts Sign to Silent Pendulum Records for New Album Duality Reality; Announce June Tour
Fucking hell, Guhts hit hard. The New York emotive post-metallic crushers have signed to Silent Pendulum Records to release their second full-length, Duality Reality, and as someone who very much enjoyed their first album, Regeneration (review here), I will tell you that the sophomore LP outclasses it in both ferocity and scope. Not saying I’ve heard it or anything but yes I have and it’s a knock-you-back kind of record, invigorating in its crux like Made Out of Babies once upon a time, but using vocal layers to its own punishing ends and twisting instrumentally in a way that lets “Currents” sneak in a poppy chorus shh don’t tell anybody.
The band posted the demo track “Inflection Point” last year, which you can hear below as they once more make ready to embark on a summer tour. They’ll keep company with Georgia’s Rosie and the Ratdogs for much of the run, which takes them south along the Eastern Seaboard before looping westward and making their way to Pittsburg to finish. None of that is Parsippany, New Jersey, and that’s a little sad, but there’s time for such things. You’ll notice that in the signing announcement there isn’t a release date. I’d expect that next sometime after the tour and then on from there with singles and preorders and such. If you take anything away from this post aside from the intention to see the band, take the idea that Duality Reality is something you want to hear, and keep an ear out accordingly. I’ll hope to have more before it arrives, whenever it’s arriving.
From the PR wire:
Guhts on signing to Silent Pendulum Records:
Being from New York, just like Silent Pendulum Records, we’ve known about the label for a long time and have been genuine fans of what they’ve built from the bands to the overall vision.
There’s a real level of intention behind everything they do. You can feel it in the roster, the visuals, and the way each release is presented, clean, cohesive, and actually thought through. It’s not just music, it’s expression with integrity.
What stands out even more is the community. The way SPR bands show up for each other, tour together, and build something bigger than themselves, that means a lot to us. That kind of unity isn’t forced, it’s cultivated.
And being able to know the owner of SPR, Michael Kadnar in real life makes it even more meaningful. That in-person connection, that shared experience, that’s everything.
And lastly, we love Silent Pendulum’s logo. The nine-pointed star and what it represents.. There’s a deeper current here, unity, direction, and real care behind the art. We’re honored to step into that.
