Tidal Wave to Release Volume Tree June 5
I guess you might call Volume Tree Tidal Wave‘s tird record, which sounds worse phonetically than surely it is. Due out June 5, Volume Tree is introduced to listeners by the single “Sideburns,” which is even shorter than its three-and-a-half-minute video would lead you to think. So maybe they’re not giving away all the spoilers immediately; hard to fault the band for that, but even the charge of the new single bodes well for the record to come, and the anti-bullying stance of the clip is a good time, so mark it a win as regards rollout. I haven’t heard the full record yet so can’t say how “Sideburns” represents it, but if you look at its place as the probable side B leadoff, it seems fair to speculate they’re starting off with a kick of energy.

Swedish stoner rock powerhouse TIDAL WAVE will return with their aptly-titled third album “Volume Tree” this June 5th on Californian label Ripple Music, and unleash the first track with their thunderous “Sideburns” video today!
Tidal Wave’s forthcoming new record Volume Tree captures the loud foursome at their absolute heaviest. These sounds are more sinister than anything on their debut Blueberry Muffin, and the band’s grunge influences punch through on tracks like “Hangman”, while “Temple of Humanity” takes a dark turn by revealing a more progressive side of their music. Lyrically, the album spans from Black Sabbath worship on “Earth” to a bully’s redemption tale on the faster and snarling debut single “Sideburns”, while keeping things fresh, modern and as punchy as a knuckleduster.
The band likes to see Volume Tree as a compilation of creative forces, as it was recorded across three different studios and mixed by three different engineers, with each track carving out its own unique soundscape and vibe. All tracks were however mastered by the talented Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord, with stunning cover art by Kristoffer Nordgren (Prettyshittyinc).
About new single “Sideburns”, they say: “In the video, we get to see how a sideburns-wearing bully harasses the band members continuously, stealing shrimp sandwiches and beers, or threatening our bass player Aden with some serious Kung Fu moves. In the end, they have their revenge on the Sideburns guy. While he’s resting behind a grocery store, the boys beat him up so badly that he ends up becoming a really nice guy. From a menace to society, the Sideburns dude ends up as an upstanding citizen.”
