If it seems surprising that Witchcraft would come all the way from Sweden just to do seven shows on the US West Coast, it probably makes more sense in the context of band’s having appeared at last year’s (2025’s) Maryland Deathfest. Their visas for touring in the US, I assume, will expire sooner or later, and as others like Truckfighters and Domkraft (though the latter had to cancel their follow-up tour ultimately) have done, they would seem to be coming back to get more bang for the rather considerable buck they’ve shelled out just to travel to the States at all.

Visa costs went through the roof in the last couple years, so many bands and artists who might otherwise do so can’t afford to tour the US at all, and those that do for sure need to get their money’s worth. This is just seven shows, but it’s more than nothing, and between last year’s Idag (review here) full-length and the new EP A Sinner’s Child that’s out March 13 on Heavy Psych Sounds — one would assume they’ll have copies available at the shows — it’s not like they’re lacking new material to promote.

If you live in this part of the world and have enough interest that you’re still reading this, my advice to you is go while you have the chance because you don’t know when or if they’ll be back. I mean, I guess that’s true of everything in the universe being ultimately uncertain, but either way I don’t imagine this is a memory you’ll regret making.
