Earth Tongue Announce US Tour Dates For October/November
Kudos to Earth Tongue on coming to this dangerous shithole of a country to tour. What’s almost certainly a terrible decision to have made in terms of finances and/or just being alive in a livable state of mind will bring the New-Zealand-rooted/I-think-they-live-in-Berlin-now two-piece to the States starting on Oct. 10 in Kansas City, Missouri, and will fill nearly the next full month, capping Nov. 9 at Freakout Festival in Seattle. Between those two, the longest break they’ll have is five days, most of which they’ll probably spend driving from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to San Francisco. If you’re out there somewhere in the middle or the leftward-on-the-map portion of the US and see them coming through, feed them and/or give them somewhere to sleep.
The sweetness-tinged satanoheavypunkers — guitarist/vocalist Gussie Larkin and drummer Ezra Simons — released their latest LP, Great Haunting (review here), and in addition to (again, I think) picking up and moving their base of popperations — that started as a typo but I’m leaving it — from Auckland to Berlin, they’ve already done a fair amount of Euro touring to support the album. I was lucky enough last summer to see them play on a boat with Brant Bjork Trio in Budapest (review here), and it remains among my favorite memories of the several weeks I got to spend in Hungary.
My only question here is when they got the visa to tour, before or after the major price increase intended to limit Americans’ access to culture, and whether or not, if this is the first run they’re doing with this documentation that they would have paid handsomely for either way, they’ll be back to fill in the places on the map this stint doesn’t cover. That’s some of the Midwest and the East Coast mainly, which in my headcanon is a harder run than the West Coast, both in terms of the crowds encountered and the travel. In any case, with countries shutting their doors to shipping to the USA and a general drawing-down of an Orange Curtain as regards interacting with the outside world, anybody who feels like they want to tour here coming from abroad deserves support. That Earth Tongue also happen to be cool is welcome context for that.
Dates are in the poster below. And if you want to accuse me of “making this political”: (1.) grow up, everything’s politics; (2.) failing that, get fucked. Fuck fascists, fuck magas, fuck you if you disagree. Free Palestine, free women’s bodies, line up the nazis at Nuremburg for bullets to the back of the fucking skull. The sooner the better.
