IAH and Hijo de la Tormenta Announce Collaborative Split Release
It’s only been, what, about two months since Argentina progressive-heavy instrumentalists IAH released their 2025 live album, En Vivo en Cabezas de Tormenta (review here), for public consumption, but the three-piece have put word out that they’ll join forces with countrymen rockers Hijo de la Tormenta, who offered their own way-fuzzed-out live release, En Directo, around this time last year, following on from their 2022 studio album, Vol. III.
I’ll tell you honestly the latter are not new to me, but I haven’t managed to keep up. I wrote about Hijo de la Tormenta‘s 2014 self-titled debut (discussed here) and 2016’s El Manto de la Especie (review here) and then kind of lost track sometime ahead of Vol. III. I’ve always maintained I suck at this. It’s other people who say nice things.
Fair enough that now I bear the burden of my gringo ignorance in taking on El Directo, which indeed is pretty forward in how it hits. I’ve included the stream of that down below, in case you haven’t already stopped reading this and just scrolled down to the music, and you’ll find the recent IAH live record there as well. I guess maybe put them on at the same time, imagine them playing the same song, and maybe you’ll have an idea why something like IAH de la Tormenta would be something worth looking forward to.
