Urtidsdjur Post “Hel Igen”; New Album Fågelsånger Coming Soon
The title of the second full-length from Swedish folk-informed progressive rockers Urtidsdjur, Fågelsånger, translates to English as ‘bird songs,’ though whether that makes them songs about birds, the songs birds sing, both or neither, I don’t know. And while we’re on the subject of my ignorance, which surely could keep us here all day, I haven’t seen a release date for Fågelsånger as yet, though they have the first single “Hel Igen” out today in a new video you can see below (not a premiere, but they sent it ahead of time so I could have it ready for the actual day the song came out, which is handy), and while I haven’t been able to download the press kit I was sent — Chrome permissions, some problem on my end; I’m working on it between sentences — to get a fuller sense of the record from which the track comes, the intro “Gryningsserenad” and “Hel Igen” are how the album starts, so it’s not like they’re not giving you anything to work from. You get some smooth-soul sax, a nice walk in the out-of-doors, and even some birdsong at the end, as far as the video goes. Seven minutes well spent.

Urtidsdjur Releases New Album “Fågelsånger” 2025
Swedish psychedelic rock band Urtidsdjur is set to release their second album, Fågelsånger. Following their debut album from 2020, this new release blends elements of Swedish prog, garage rock, folk, and psychedelic rock into a cohesive musical journey from start to finish.
Hel igen is the first single from Urtidsdjur’s upcoming album Fågelsånger, 
set for release on February 28, 2025. The song blends melancholic melodies, hypnotic rhythms, and atmospheric layers, capturing the band’s signature mix of Swedish progg, folk, and psychedelic rock.
Recorded between 2023 and 2024 in the band’s rehearsal space and a studio in Gottsunda, Hel igen reflects Urtidsdjur’s organic and immersive sound. The track marks the first of eight leading up to the new album.
Album Release and Vinyl Edition Fågelsånger will be available digitally later this year. However, the vinyl edition will be released earlier in a limited run of 100 copies. The cover artwork includes graphics by Robin Orb and each features a unique hand-marbled design. The vinyl comes in two versions: 40 copies in red marble-colored vinyl and 60 in classic black, all pressed on 180-gram heavyweight LPs.
