Caboose Announce Debut Album Left for Dust Out March 21; “High on You” Video Posted

CABOOSE

They’re young, they sound it, and that’s part of the appeal. Caboose are a new band from Sweden getting ready to release their debut album, Left for Dust, on March 21. They just put a video up for the opening track “High on You” and that’s what caught my eye, but under the PR wire info below is also the Bandcamp player, where there are four other tracks to be heard. All told that’s more than half of Left for Dust out about a month and a half from the release day. You’re only young once.

The fare? Straight up stoner rock. They fuzz it out, make it funky, drop a Sabbath riff here and there, a bit of Fu Manchu in “Cement Surfer,” and groove with an exuberance that dudes my age could not possibly hope to capture. There’s a lot to like about it for the converted, and in a genre ready for generational turnover, you could do a hell of a lot worse than coming out with a high-energy collection of catchy, groovy heavy rock and roll. One immediately wants to support kids getting into heavy rock — because someday all of us sad-dads, weirdo-moms, and other miscreants of a certain age will be done — and the world inarguably needs fresh riffs.

I could go on. You get the point. All the info I’ve got is below, courtesy of the PR wire. I already asked to premiere a track. We’ll how it goes:

Caboose Left for Dust

Caboose – Swedish Stoner-Rock Newcomers Announce Debut Album Left For Dust & Release Video for “High on You”!

Stockholm-based stoner rock upstarts Caboose are set to shake up the scene with their debut album, Left For Dust, to be released on March 21st via Majestic Mountain Records, and to mark the occasion, they’ve just released the high-energy video for “High on You”!

Formed during the frigid winter of 2022 by four high school friends, Caboose started as a school project aimed at crafting high-tempo stoner rock. What began in a makeshift garage studio quickly evolved into something much bigger, as the band honed their fuzz-driven sound, blending classic rock grit with the modern stoner rock spirit.

Now, nearly two years into their journey, Caboose has become a staple of Stockholm’s rock scene, delivering high-volume, riff-heavy performances from underground venues to festival stages. With fuzz-drenched riffs, thick grooves, and raw energy, Left For Dust cements Caboose as a band to watch in the Swedish rock underground.

Watched that video and had a sudden flashback to all the excitement surrounding Silverchair in the mid-90’s. Kids doing a rock’n’roll will never not be cool.
