King Potenaz Sign to Majestic Mountain Records
Slice of life: I was up all night coughing. I’ve got the second cold I’ve had in the last two and a half weeks, which just feels cruel. Didn’t we just do this? Here we go again. And I’m trying to get caught up on news from the Quarterly Review — it’s ‘the week after,’ same as always — and this announcement that King Potenaz signed to Majestic Mountain Records came out Oct. 13, lest you think I’m trying to pass it off as new-news.
But here’s the thing. Look below, and KingPotenaz is smushed like that. One word. Go to their Bandcamp, and indeed in the review here of last year’s Goat Rider — and somehow it would be weird if that was two words and the band’s name was one, right? — it’s listed as two. That means I’ve already published something the band presumably has seen, and if it was wrong, no one corrected me. Therefore, in my addled reasoning, I’m going with two in the headline and metadata for this post.
I thought about this an embarrassing amount before reaching that conclusion. Hey, congrats to the band — are they one word or two? Yes, I could’ve asked at any point. Majestic Mountain is always very kind in getting back. But I didn’t. I’m rolling the dice with it as two words and we’ll see how it goes. Riding the edge of that slice of life, to be sure.
I liked Goat Rider, despite the silly name, and while we’re here I’ll point out the similarity to Goatriders, who are also signed to Majestic Mountain, and whose relevant album title is definitely one word.
