Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats Go Full-on VHS Montage in “Mind Crawler” Video

I’ve had occasion over the last 24 hours to listen to both 2011’s Blood Lust and this year’s Mind Control by Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, and aside from underscoring just how psychedelic they became on their third album (they made their debut with the just-itching-to-be-reissued Volume 1 in 2010), it’s basically resulted in my humming catchy melodies about murder and cult worship under my breath all day.

The more joyful the coincidence, then, that Uncle Acid — who in case you were wondering have gotten to the point of huge that, yes, they’re opening for Sabbath in the UK — should today unveil their new video for the song “Mind Crawler” from Mind Control. As you’ll see, the clip is fitting the band’s whole cultish aesthetic, with clips that look drawn from VHS tapes in the first place loosely tied together — you’ll note how well Charlie Manson syncs up with the track — and run through a filter to make them look even more like they’re from VHS tapes. I don’t know how many sources they used, but between the cleverness of tying them all together and the sheer amount of ritualistic ass it contains, somebody was bound to have busy for a while making it.

So as they ease you into sensory overload, enjoy the song and Uncle Acid‘s continued infection of the greater public consciousness.
