Roadburn 2011 Adventure Pt. 2: The Wizard
10:54AM – Thursday – On Train Out of Schiphol Airport
Train full of weirdos headed to Eindhoven, I must be in the right place. I could walk car by car right now and tell you who’s going to transfer at Den Bosch. The doom uniform (doomiform? Nah) is easy to pick out of a crowd, especially among normal types, tourists and business commuters.
I more than a little bit want to make out with the European rail system. As the conductor punches my ticket and the Dutch highway runs parallel, I’m already glad I put up with the bullshit of last week and the start of this week to be here. My throat is raw and my sinuses are so pressurized they could cook a turkey in 22 minutes or your money back, and sleep is looking more and more like a pipedream, but damn it feels good to be here.
The aforementioned transfer, then on to Tilburg. Big Blue (pictured) is on the seat next to me because it’s too big to fit in any carriage hold on this train. If a thing’s worth doing, it’s worth doing with oversized baggage. I’m pretty sure Abe Lincoln said that.
Stop after next: Roadburn.

Dude, that is BIG and BLUE, really blue.
Should’ve seen my sack after five days in Tilburg!
