Sat-r-dee Icecross

I got back just a bit ago from the Second Saturday Record Show in Wayne, which I know I’ve mentioned before around these parts, and among the assorted treasures I picked up was the above long-player from Icelandic heavy proggers Icecross, whose anti-Christian album art was enough to intrigue me into paying “collectors price” for it on CD. I’d never heard of the band before, but the disc rules and the above song is a pretty good marker for anyone who’s into the new school occult rock revival. Anyway, hope you dig the video.

There was more I grabbed, but I’ll save it for a later Buried Treasure post and instead just leave this to close out the week. I’d have done so last night, but for both an intent on my part to relax for the course of the evening and the fact that I was glued to the footage coming in from Japan as well. I know I said it before, but that shit is devastating. If you’re over there, please be safe.

Letting the Batillus tracks breathe might have had something to do with it as well. Thanks again to Seventh Rule for letting me host those. I’m very much looking forward to that show in NYC on the 26th. Should be good times.

Next week I’ll post an interview with Red Fang, and we’ll have reviews of new records from Grails, Dutch jammers The Machine, and others. As far as the podcast goes, I’ve decided just to skip March and maybe put up April’s a week earlier, so look for that hopefully next weekend, if I have time. I’m thinking of doing a heavy ’70s podcast, but it would probably require me to include some Led Zeppelin, and I don’t own any, so that might be a snag. Yeah, that’s right, I don’t own a single Led Zeppelin record. I said it. Not a fan.

Anyway, fun stuff to come, so stay tuned, and if you’re seeing this, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. If anyone needs me, I’ll be on the forums.

I was gonna head to Second Saturday today as well, but 23 is closed coming from my neck of the woods, and I was too lazy to manuver the back roads…I’ll find another way to unload my crate of sealed Asian horror flicks..
