Tuber Announce November Tour Dates

Greek progressive heavy rock four-piece Tuber are getting ready to hit the road this Fall. They go on the strength of their massively well received 2017 full-length, Out of the Blue (discussed here), which has only helped put emphasis on the booming scene in Greece generally. You might recall Tuber was out in Europe earlier this year, playing Desertfest Berlin 2017, following up on a wider bit of touring they did in 2016 — those shows, like these, presented by Total Volume Agency — so yeah they seem due to hit the road again, and no doubt with Out of the Blue behind them, no doubt it’ll be a killer vibe at the gigs.

Dates follow here, as posted by the band in the poster below and dutifully transcribed by yours truly:

Tuber grew up in a sunny place, south of Greece, in an island called Crete. They were hiding from the sun, jamming in dark studios and playing their music in rock caves. As they moved north, sounds became lighter, since they started miss hot ground. Balance came as a result of smash, dark embraced light and improvisation turned into an effortless and instinctive process. Tuber moved their interest into new forms, founding themselves experimenting with compositions that combine mixed styles and sounds from different ground. Focus is now on rock aesthetic flirting with psychedelic atmosphere and a touch of romantic mood. At this time Tuber live in Serres, forming their feelings and thoughts into music and words, still learning how to leave with reality and reinventing it with love.

Black Hat Bones Sign with Total Volume Booking

Posted in Whathaveyou on May 26th, 2017 by JJ Koczan

Greek heavy rockers Black Hat Bones released their second album, Born in a Thunder, in March, and it looks like they’ll soon enough be taking to the streets to support it. The Athens-based four-piece have inked a deal to work with Total Volume Booking (Geezer, Naxatras, Green Yeti, etc.) to bring their crisp energy to stages around Europe, and while dates haven’t been announced yet, the band hasn’t exactly been shy about getting out in Greece, playing Desertfest Athens last year and more besides.

If you didn’t hear Born in a Thunder, it’s basically a parade of high-energy hooks served straight up like a cold shot of AC/DC-style songwriting, and it’s streaming in full at the bottom of this post from their Bandcamp, so, you know, dig in.

From the PR wire:

black hat bones

Black Hat Bones (GR) joining forces with Total Volume

Hailing from Sparta, but currently residing in the Greek capital, we present to you Black Hat Bones!

If highly energetic performances, screaming solos, growling bass and a vocalist from which you can’t get your eyes off, are your kind of thing, then you’re in for a treat! After partying in well-known stages throughout Greece, but also taking part in notable festivals like Rockwave Festival, Desert Fest Athens, Fuzztastic planet, as well as the upcoming Ejekt Festival, it’s time for these dudes to cross the borders and spread their high-energy rock ‘n’ roll to the masses!

With their latest work, “Born in a Thunder”, already released in both digital and physical format through the band’s bandcamp, get ready to witness a, what now the guys call, “adrenaline fueled POP music party”.

Bio:

We are Black Hat Bones, a high energy / heavy rock band from Sparta(Greece) formed back in 2009. Since 2011, we moved to Athens(Greece) and we managed to release our first Ep, a digital single and our debut full length album “High Gain Devil Rockers” through Trailblazer Records. All these received some incredible feedback (zines, blogs, radio / tv stations ) from all over the world (Canada to France, UK, Italy , Poland, Netherlands, Sweden, Greece). Our latest album called “Born in a Thunder”is out now in digital & physical format (vinyl 180gr) and we’re currently touring Greece spreading rock ‘n’ roll to the masses, looking forward to cross the borders!

Long story short, we’ve been rockin’ this place for quite some time now, and we’re looking forward to come to your place! So, if you’re still reading this, press one of the links below, and let’s book a show so we can meet, dance, drink, and headbang!

Green Yeti Announce May Tour Dates

Posted in Whathaveyou on March 23rd, 2017 by JJ Koczan

green yeti

We all know it’s a special moment in the life of a band when they hit the road for the first time. Often it’s not more than a tentative weekender, maybe hitting a couple different towns over subsequent nights before going back to work on Monday, the 48-hour rock star in a packed van. Inside jokes, lousy food, plenty of volume — those are good times. Cheers to Athens trio Green Yeti on getting out for a few nights and making it happen. They’re hooked up with Total Volume Agency supporting their 2016 debut, The Yeti has Landed — streaming below — so I get the feeling that the five-night run they’ve got booked for early May won’t be their last, but only one tour can be your first tour, and I hope theirs is awesome.

Dates and the David Paul Seymour poster came in from the PR wire:

Green Yeti – Mini Tour 2017

Brace yourselves! The Yeti is about to leave its cave and make a short trip to explore new, unforeseen lands!

Hailing from the feral wilderness of the Athenian underground, Green Yeti descended to the world of man three years ago, in order to spew out their savage psychedelic riffage. Featuring members of Brotherhood of Sleep, Reversed Nature, Stonenrow and Spacement, they have shared the stage with the likes of Stoned Jesus, Egypt, Dopelord and The Re-Stoned. Yeti’s full-length debut: “The Yeti Has Landed” launched last year; making its way fast to many 2016 best-of lists!

The heavy psych three-piece, is about to embark on its first Eastern European outing this May, on a mini tour organized by Total Volume, home of bands like Nightstalker, Egypt, Valley of the Sun and more. If monster riffs, bleak atmospheres, spaced out vocals and foggy psychedelia is your thing; then you’ve hit bullseye!

Come and celebrate with us, our 2017 Spring Tour!

Nightstalker European Tour Dates Announced

Posted in Whathaveyou on February 17th, 2017 by JJ Koczan

nightstalker

It was half a decade between releases before Greek heavy rockers Nightstalker unveiled their seventh album, As Above, So Below (review here), late last year. They’re wasting precious little time in getting out to support it. This Spring, the Athens-based outfit will head out for slots at Riffolution, Hell Over Esslingen and Soundart festivals over the course of March, April and May, and around those appearances, they’ll spend a good amount of their days touring. I don’t know when the last time the veteran four-piece hit the road was, but they’re covering a good amount of ground across Europe this time, and it seems likely more dates will follow for later in 2017.

Shows are presented by Total Volume Agency, who sent the following along the PR wire:

It’s the original superfreaks Nightstalker – louder than ever!

There’s not much to say about Nightstalker. The three decades on heavy rock duty, the countless hours on stage, as well as the worldwide praise and respect speak for themselves. With last-year’s nifty “As Above, So Below” in their luggage, the legendary Greek four-piece will bring its smoked up ter-RIFF-ic grooves to no less that 12 countries across Europe, in a massive tour organised by Total Volume.

Check the dates, find a town near you, grab a beer and come say high!

Valley of the Sun Return to Europe this Fall; Touring with Dot Legacy

Posted in Whathaveyou on July 13th, 2016 by JJ Koczan

This September, Ohio heavy rockers Valley of the Sun continue their Euro-minded focus with a tour supporting their latest album, Volume Rock (review here). That record, released by Fuzzorama, has come out since the band was last on European turf earlier this Spring, and not that it necessarily needed to, but it reaffirmed Valley of the Sun‘s general kickassness, marking the next step in the progression of their songwriting while holding onto the crisp presentation that has made their work to-date so refreshing sounding.

They’ll team up with Parisian rockers Dot legacy — who from what I hear have a new album of their own currently in progress — for the tour, which is presented by Total Volume Agency. Whenever it might arrive, their next outing will be the follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut (review here), which was issued on Setalight Records.

Valley of the Sun offered some comment on heading abroad once again. Find that followed by the dates below:

Naxatras Announce European Tour Dates

Posted in Whathaveyou on May 6th, 2016 by JJ Koczan

The ink is barely dry on Naxatras‘ newly-issued second full-length, II — which the Greek heavy psych trio dropped at the end of last week in the grand style of oh-hey-no-big-deal-but-here’s-our-record-and-actually-it’s-a-pretty-big-deal — and already they’ve followed up that bombshell with another in the form of a European tour for June and July to support it. Given the response to II, I’d expect these will be some shows to see, and while a couple dates in Italy at the start are still TBA, also included are slots at the Cheapstock fest in Barcelona and Red Smoke fest in Poland, so one could hardly accuse Naxatras of not covering a significant swath of ground as they get out to herald the new album’s arrival.

Shows are presented by Total Volume Agency, and if you haven’t heard it yet, the album is streaming below via the band’s Bandcamp page. Last report I heard — and this was like four days ago, mind you — a physical edition was due out sometime this month. Presumably that’s a CD, unless Naxatras have figured out a magic way to make vinyl records in less than the five months it seems to take everybody else on the planet, but I mention it mostly because their stuff sells quick, and if you want one, it’s best to keep your eye out for when it goes on sale.

Kind Sign with Total Volume Agency; Touring Europe this Fall

Posted in Whathaveyou on April 12th, 2016 by JJ Koczan

Kind‘s 2015 debut album, Rocket Science (review here), is available now on vinyl through Ripple Music. The band have done some sporadic live shows over the months since the CD dropped last December, as members continue their work on other bands and tours — drummer Matt Couto out with Elder again, bassist Tom Corino wrapping up the awaited debut from Rozamov, vocalist Craig Riggs (also Roadsaw and White Dynomite) touring on drums with Sasquatch, guitarist Darryl Shepard busy being the mayor of Boston heavy rock — but it seems their intention is to head to Europe in October and do a round of shows to support the record. They’ve just signed a deal with Total Volume Agency, in good company with the likes of Valley of the SunGeezerTuberBlaak HeatNaxatras and Funeral Horse, which will no doubt help them in that cause.

Total Volume announced the partnership thusly:

kind (Photo by Nicole Tammaro)

Total Volume – First addition to our roster this year : KIND!

Formed in 2013 by Matt Couto (Elder), Darryl Shepard (Black Pyramid, The Scimitar) and Tom Corino (ROZAMOV) – after the trio spent time jamming together in-between day-to-day commitments – the doom supergroup KIND quickly cemented their formation with the addition of Roadsaw vocalist Craig Riggs.

Out of the mind-bending riffs and extended jam sessions, whole songs began to take shape through winter rehearsals down in Couto’s freezing cold basement in 2014, where the newly formed quartet began laying down ideas for their soon to be released debut, Rocket Science, which officially landed this December on Ripple Music.

Shows were soon booked to share the tunes with the curious. Further riffs materialized, new songs banged into shape, and yet more shows confirmed, so keen were the band to test their mettle and mixture of heavy metal, psych, Krautrock and straight-up classic rock and roll.

With four songs recorded at Mad Oak Studios serving as the band’s demo in the spring of 2015, KIND entered New Alliance Studios with engineer Alec Rodriguez to record their first full-length, Rocket Science, which received an official release this past December on the California-based label Ripple Music.

Tuber Touring Europe in May

Posted in Whathaveyou on February 22nd, 2016 by JJ Koczan

tuber

This Spring, Greek desert rocking instrumentalists Tuber will hit the road in Europe for the first time. The run of shows is presented by Total Volume Agency and will find the band two and a half years removed from the release of their debut full-length, 2013’s Desert Overcrowded, but having built a steady following all the while. Not all the bills have completely come together yet, but the dates are set and there’s enough to keep up with here as it is. Tuber signed with Total Volume in Sept. 2015 after traveling this past summer to play Freak Valley in Germany, and they also shared the stage with Rotor and others at that festival’s holiday-themed incarnation in December; clearly they made an impression.

As they have on multiple listeners, myself included the first time I heard them. Dates and info follow — Les Lekin will support on several of the shows — courtesy of the booking agency:

Tuber European Tour // May 2016

Back in September 2015, Tuber was the first band to join our roster, and we were more than proud about it. This is their first European tour, so if they stop by your place, make sure you get to know them! We will continuously update this even with all sorts of information regarding this tour, so stay tuned!

Tuber is an instrumental rock band from Greece, consisting of brothers Yannis Gerosthathos and Nikos Gerostathos, Paris Fragkos and Yannis Artzoglou. The first three of them came together in 2010 and a few months later they started recording their first -self titled- EP, at Parallel Universe Studio in Serres. In July of the same year Tuber released their independent debut album on digital form, through their web page in Bandcamp. The EP received stunning reviews from various webpages and blogs worldwide and at June 2012 was re-released on a limited vinyl edition by Krautedmind Records. December 9 2013.

Tuber released their album, Desert Overcrowded, at their bandcamp official site: http://tuber.bandcamp.com/ Tuber’s sound has been described by critics and reviewers thoroughly as a blend of post, stoner, desert and space rock with a sublime psych edge.
