Our secrets outlast us. They become the leftover non-physical parts of ourselves. Such as they are, they’re our souls. There is an entire swirling universe of everyone’s unknowns; an ether that expands without ceasing as each hour passes and something goes unsaid or kept hidden. This space is as much cosmic as it is intangible. It’s all around, within, between and inside of each of us. There is no movement away from it. Gradually, these things we carry consume us and when there’s nothing left, we at last are one with that universe of secrets surrounding.

Comprised solely of Tommie Eriksson of sonic ritualizers Saturnalia Temple, Eldhamn finds a place where obscurity and classic garage rawness meet. The debut single is “Bhairavi Eyes” and it’s easy to imagine putting it on by candlelight and living out a four-minute shroom-laced montage, all swirling analog effects and vague echoes of laughter and the mind racing in circles as fast as it can as the mouth struggles to keep pace. The tone is thick but the vibe is thicker on “Bhairavi Eyes,” and Eriksson guides the listener along an easy flowing course of molten classicism, every bit worth of the seven-inch platter to which Secret Trees Recordings has pressed it.

The EP, which one assumes it will be called Bhairavi Eyes or something thereabouts, is due out next month in an edition of 200 copies — speaking of keeping secrets — and the video for the track itself takes us on a train ride through Sweden in which nearly every frame becomes a visual metaphor. Eriksson goes into it in the quote below the clip, so I won’t bother to simply repeat what he says, but it’s obviously something with a lot more consideration put into it than it might at first seem. It would seem the guy can’t quite help putting more layers into his work for those who’d seek them out, be it in Saturnalia Temple, Eldhamn, or any number of other projects he might have going at a given time. Fair enough.

I hear a baby crying. Enjoy the premiere of “Bhairavi Eyes” below, followed by that quote from Eriksson and more from the PR wire about the release itself, including the preorder link.

Eldhamn, “Bhairavi Eyes” official video premiere

Tommie Eriksson on “Bhairavi Eyes”:

Bhairavi Eyes is a song about encountering the goddess, both as an internal initiatory experience of awakening the Kundalini, and as meeting the deity in an outer temporary human form. Bhairavi is the “terrible one” but in rare cases she appears as sweet and benign, as she does in this song.

The video is an alchemical journey in the mountains of northern Sweden, which symbolize the highest spiritual levels, the Ajna and Sahasrara in the Tantra. The train symbolizes both the Kundalini and the mind that travels along the Sushumna or spine to reach the mountains where the goddess resides. The flowing water is the flow of life force and emotions. The journey ends at a deep cold lake where the Yantra of the goddess appears and is directed down to the primordial water once again.

Eldhamn is a solo project of Tommie Eriksson from Saturnalia Temple. Magic rock for those that like to dig deep.

Eldhamn is a sound risen from the ashes of modern civilisation like a distress call, a beacon of cultural resistance against the decadence of the sleeping world. All citizens of the world are facing the inevitable and there are but three choices: The Waking Sleep, The Sleep of Death or The Sulphur Gaze. The Waking Sleep is the state most people are in. In full co-operation with the false system of demiurgic falsity that is ruling the material level. The Sleep of Death is the state of those that have realised the crisis but are overwhelmed by it and are simply waiting for Death. The Sulphur Gaze is the sign of full illumination and when the eyes are destroying the false world with their alchemical sulphur, just by observing.
