Conan Post “Revengeance” Lyric Video; UK Tour Announced

UK megariffers Conan haven’t ever really been shy about including the lyrics with their records, and over the course of their tenure, they’ve developed something of a signature style in violent minimalism, lines casting out brutal impressions not necessarily gory, but rampaging with a conceptual heft and brutality worthy of their tones. As they prepare to unleash Revengeance late next month on Napalm Records, the trio of guitarist/vocalist Jon Davis, bassist/vocalist/engineer Chris Fielding and drummer Rich Lewis take advantage of a chance to show the central ethic has not changed in unveiling a new lyric video for the album’s title-track.

In addition to getting to know just what the hell Davis and Fielding are yelling about as they cut through all that rumble — a luxury in itself — the six-minute clip gives a close inspection of the Revengeance cover art, which sees Tony Roberts deliver the next installment in a collaboration that’s been essential to the development of Conan‘s aesthetic over the course of their two to-date LPs, 2014’s Blood Eagle (review here) and 2012’s Monnos (review here). The cover is animated in the video, you’ll note the nodding wolves late and the flapping wings and fire throughout, but even in the flickering light and with the moving camera, it’s hard not to appreciate the detail of Roberts‘ design. It is of a fitting scale.

Conan have announced a round of UK dates for next April. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sneak off on a European tour before that, as well as after it, and return to North American shores at some point in 2016 as well. It seems like Revengeance is going to keep them plenty busy.

Video and those tour dates follow. Enjoy:
