The Golden Grass Enter Studio to Begin Recording New Album; Announce New Bassist
Brooklynite trio The Golden Grass have entered the studio to begin working on their sophomore full-length for a 2016 release. The band, who were also recently confirmed for an appearance at Freak Valley 2016 and who opened for Deep Purple this summer in New York, also announce the addition of new bassist Frank Caira (The Above) to the lineup. Caira will appear on the album, which is being tracked by Jeff Berner at Galuminum Foil Productions, and will make his live debut with the band on Friday in Philadelphia when The Golden Grass joins Ruby the Hatchet and Serpent Throne at Johnny Brenda’s.
Damn that’s a good show. The Golden Grass‘ self-titled debut (review here) was issued last year on Svart Records, and in his post below, I can’t help but wonder what drummer/vocalist Adam Kriney is referring to when he says they can’t share “certain details” concerning the album. That could mean a different label has picked them up, or he could just be referring to things like the title, songs and artwork, all of which remain forthcoming at this point.
Bottom line, I’m glad The Golden Grass are doing a second record. It’s been too damn long since the last time I saw them (it was April) and I’ve no doubt that when it’s done, the LP’s wholesome, positive vibes will be welcome:
…And here we go again…after 6 months of intense pre-production and planning, The Golden Grass head back into Galuminum Foil Productions today with Jeff Berner to begin recording our 2nd full length album! although we can’t share certain details yet about the release (but don’t worry, that news is coming soon!), the important thing is that Michael Rafalowich and I are now beyond blessed to welcome our new bass player Frank Caira (also of NYC’s THE ABOVE) to the group!
Frank will be recording the album with us AND you lucky ducks in Philadelphia will be able to see him play his first *live* gig with us this Friday at the annual JB’S RIFFMAS SHOW // SERPENT THRONE, RUBY THE HATCHET & THE GOLDEN GRASS where we will perform our (((ENTIRE NEW ALBUM LIVE))), may of these tunes getting their world premier performance… keep on grassin!
