All Them Witches Sign to New West Records; New Album Due this Fall
Congratulations to Nashville’s All Them Witches on signing to New West Records. The heavy blues jamming four-piece made their debut on the Bonnaroo stage this past weekend and their ascendance as a touring act was bound to find them picked up by somebody sooner or later, the only question was who and when. The answer to the first part is New West, in case you missed it in the first sentence, and the answer to the second part is this fall, which is when All Them Witches will release their as-yet-untitled third album as the follow-up to their stunner of a sophomore outing, 2013/2014’s Lightning at the Door (review here).
Of course, they’re keeping plenty busy in the meantime. Aside from the Bonnaroo gig, they just pressed up vinyl copies of their previously digital-only Effervescent EP (review here) that they’ll reportedly sell only at shows, and in addition to the extra-jammy A Sweet Release (review here) stopgap from this April, they’ll also take part in Magnetic Eye Records‘ tribute to Jimi Hendrix this fall, and their cover of “Voodoo Chile” was recently unveiled. One can only assume a new batch of tour dates aren’t far off, though there’s also a recording schedule to think about.
Either way, cheers to All Them Witches on, well, kicking ass as they have for the last several years. Now the real work begins. Here’s the announcement off New West‘s site:
NEW WEST WELCOMES ALL THEM WITCHES TO THE FAMILY
New West Records is thrilled to announce they have signed Nashville psych rock band All Them Witches and are readying their third studio album for a fall release. The foursome, who take their name from Roman Polanski’s 1968 masterpiece “Rosemary’s Baby,” [played] their biggest show to date when they [made] their Bonnaroo debut Saturday at midnight on The Who Stage.
“When I first saw All Them Witches live I was immediately struck by their creativity and raw energy as a rock band,” says John Allen, President of New West Records. “If there’s one defining factor of all New West artists it’s that they all know who exactly they are and there’s immense gravity in that. We are very excited to be part of All Them Witches’ epic vision and believe their potential is limitless.”
Heavy, heady and hypnotic, All Them Witches concoct a powerful and potent psychedelic sound that fuses bluesy soul, Southern swagger and thunderous hard rock. With their transfixing releases, 2012’s Our Mother Electricity and 2014’s Lightning At The Door, and a jam-filled live show where no two shows are the same, the band has amassed a devoted following and have become something of a sensation in the underground rock scene.
