has anyone seen them live since they hit american soil? either at a club or at mdf? I am very curious as to how the shows have been, especially since they are making their way to the west coast...

CoM were my favorite set of the night at MDF on Sunday. I wrote a bit review in the live reviews forum. You will not be disappointed.

Only 3 days before they hit Albuquerque—stoked to finally get the opportunity to see 'em live!

drove my ass to peep them in pvd. good show, elder opened and sounded crisp but they overstayed their welcomes. had heard of gates of slumber never really heard them before and thought they sounded like shit dried over. and that's bein generous. church of misery slammed my brain but it was already well into the bag that night so i enjoyed myself.

Yeah, they were pretty awesome at MDF. The Wizard was just EPIC, but CoM and YOB crushed every bit as much. I really wish I went to see them the night before at the North Star. I didn't want to spend the money since I knew I was going to blow a lot at MDF.

church of misery pretty much wipe the floor with every other classic stoner/doom band at the moment especially when it comes to performing live
too good to see tom sutton back in the band
i heard he is only temporarily back for their euro+us tour this year as he´s not living in tokyo anymore

Was good to see Tom back with them. Harrassed him shamelessly when they played Bristol, he was looking well-groomed and didn't much appreciate my sweaty embrace heheheh.

I've kind of got Church of Misery fatigue now I think, saw them earlier in the year supporting Orange Goblin (great gig, shitfaced drunk...) then at Roadburn which must have been about about the seventh or eighth time I've seen them play and I just couldn't get that excited. Granted the bass problems didn't exactly make it an electric set but I think I don't need to see them again for a couple of years.

That said they are an excellent live band and knock spots off many others, even when they spend the first ten/fifteen minutes of the set killing bass amps!

The brooklyn show seriously exceeded my expectations. As much fun to watch as to listen to.

Spewin even more now that they cancelled their Australian tour. Especially with Tom Sutton being an Aussie. Can't they do some sort of return to the Antipodes tour?

Got to see them in Austin and they were transcendent. Totally worth the 12 year wait!

well, I bit the bullet and got a ticket to tomorrow's show in SF. it will be a 4-hour-round-trip drive alone for me but after all the glowing testimonials, this surely cannot be missed... I am immensely looking forward to this.

I drove 6 hours each way and was glad I did.
They're pros. There's a passion in their playing that seems genuine rather than a schtick.

i kinda miss negishi on vocals though
the new/old singer is great
but negishi was much wilder and had a more vicious roar
plus the much better stage show
what a lunatic

Only had to drive 20 minutes to see CoM last night, but I would have travelled much further without regret. Great show. The Saint Vitus cover for the encore with Gates and Hail! Hornet members joining in was cool way to close. Glad these guys stopped in LA. And to its credit, LA came out in decent numbers.
