My take on the new album from the Cult...

Pros - It is their best album in two decades, but not as good as "Love". The material sort of sounds like a cross between "Love" and "Sonic Temple".

Cons - The typical Chris Goss production sounds dry like it always does (which i am not the big a fan of)... My wife thought that it sounded like The Cult were trying to sound like QOTSA or the Foo Fighters, but I had to explain that was the work of the Producer and not the band... The songs sound like The Cult, the production does not.

Even though i can't stand the production, I would still recommend the album.

^ Thanks for the scoop...sounds like I need to give it a go...Goss' production has worked well w/ some bands, not so much w/ others...for some reason, I incorrectly thought The Cult were working w/ Barresi on this album.

Read an article in Classic Rock that Goss started the production then it was finished by Bob Rock.

Generation of Vipers. Dudes from US Christmas and other bands playing some crusty Neurosis-y death crustcore stuff. Kurt Ballou's production is apparent here, and this album fucking rips.

I have no idea. it's a German bootleg of the unreleased album and as far as I know it's still available for purchase.

It's funny they put the Man's Ruin logo on that because: A) the album was slated to be on the American Recordings label and B) Man's Ruin had pretty much already gone under by the time the album was ready to be released.

All part of the packaging. The label's name on the bootleg is 'Mad Man's Ruin'.

Nice! I'm only familiar with their Zwei album, but I dig it.
