Who else on this board is actively pursuing formal education? College, hell maybe even high-school?

I'm sitting in the engineering college studying for a final at 9AM. This is the third time I have done this since this is the third time I have taken introduction to circuits. Fucking. Sucks. All I have is myself too blame though.

Despite my inability to pass this class, I do hope to graduate next spring with a B.S. in mechanical engineering.

I'm in University right now pursuing a degree in behavioural/cognitive neuroscience. It's fun, but tiring. As an introvert, the worst part is having to do group assignments with people that are fucking clueless.

Been taking courses slowly as prereqs for getting into grad school the past few years. Got into a grad program starting this fall and about to become a full time student once again.

I just finished my masters in chinese history and signed a pretty decent teaching contract in zhejiang province. For anyone considering grad school, I highly recommend that you NOT work your way through your degree. It might make your loans less severe, but you end up paying with a pound of flesh.

Last year I went back to University and did a Post Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies. Very interesting, but probably not that useful.

Me. I've slowly been taking web design and administrative classes for years. Online classes have saved me from completely losing it, giving up, and settling with the idea that I'll be stuck in food service forever.

Finishing my PhD this summer/fall. It's been a long, interesting trip so far.

I'm currently studying for my BA in History at UWO minoring in English Lit (or Anthro) and thinking about grad school out west. This Summer Intersession course I'm taking on the Battles That Changed History is outright badass.

I'm in the final throes of coursework towards getting my RN license and BSN degree. I started my university study in chemistry nearly 20 years ago. Having a kid changed that life trajectory pretty quickly. About 15 years ago I put myself through a massage therapy training program and enjoyed a pretty successful private practice and career until several interstate moves and my divorce brought that to an end.

Back in 2006 I started my degree all over again, working full time and taking classes at night whenever possible. There was a waiting period of over 2 years at one point to get into this nursing program. As of this past March I received my acceptance letter into that program and completed the final general curriculum class for my degree. Now, I only have to compete this final portion of my "major" classes, the actual nursing classes themselves. It's taken for.fucking.ev.er. to get here but I can definitely see the prize in the not so distant future, now.

Not working and taking out loans for school was never really an option to me, and doing all of the above nearly put me in the looney bin a few times. It's been well worth the long journey though. My daughter turned 18 this past December, my employer will reimburse me for this next bit of coursework, and I'll have my first degree at the age of 40 with virtually no debt.

I fully intend to celebrate by treating myself with a trip to Tillburg that following spring.

I finished a master's last year in writing. No real tangible (i.e. fiscal) gain to having done it, but it was great to be able to think about writing all the time and be in a good group of readers like that.

HP: that's awesome..what sort of things do you write/plan on writing? Obviously the blog, but I am guessing you have aspirations beyond.

Audi0phile: my wife is in an engineering program, and has a love/hate relationship with her circuits classes. From what I have gathered a lot depends on the person teaching the course and the people you work with in labs, etc. Good luck!

I went back to college in January 2011 after being out for almost 20 years. I will get my BA in Psychology next May and then it is on to get my Masters in Counseling. I never thought I would go back to school because I hated it so much in the past, but I decided I wanted to do something to help people and feel like I am making a difference instead of just working a brain-dead gig.

Tough to juggle college, kid, wife and band.....but that's life.

It's taken me 4 years of to get my pre-requs for graduate school as I split time between work and school and ensuring I worked enough so that I could do it without taking loans. As I go into graduate school, I am just going to focus on school and take out the loans and get as soon as possible. Not dragging it out any longer and going to give school the attention it needs so I can succeed.

I'm about a quarter of the way into a Master of Medieval Studies, specifically Anglo-Saxon/Viking studies.

I write fiction and creative nonfiction, some poetry but not as much as I used to. Short stories, mostly. I wrote a novel a few years ago and it was pretty terrible, but a fun experience.

Yes! I got my BS in Electrical Engineering from UW-Milwaukee (get this - in state tuition was $800 a semester) in 1989.

I went to grad school in 2007 and got my MS in Information Technology from Northwestern. 15 A's in a row, I almost died doing it. It was a fantastic life affirming adventure though and I loved doing it

If we sell the business one or both of us will do more schooling, my wife should probably get a MBA now that she's our CEO. I don't know if a technical doctoral degree or law school makes sense for me.. I guess I could do CPA... None of it much appeal.

Have you thought about the idea of becoming a patent agent? Engineers who can speak the legal language are quite useful for large companies with internal legal departments/companies who generate intellectual property. There is also the unholy engineer patent lawyer. Those are people you do not want to fuck with.
