Prelim is a twisted right knee. Still going for an MRI, but I think it just looked worse than it actually is. Dude was all smiles when he was driven off.

Good to hear...I just read a quick tidbit and it said he was seen "writhing in pain."

Apparently for good reason: torn ACL, most likely done for the season. Fuck.

Wonder if they'll go with Robertson full time or if he and Soriano will trade it off. There was little question that Robertson would take over the role after Mo retired, but obviously no one was expecting it to be so soon. I wonder what this means for Mo's retirement plans.

Kind of a dorky/embarassing injury. WTF is he doing shagging flyballs in the outfield? Probably a career ender, as he was hinting at retiring after this season.

Sure wish I'd jumped on the waiver wire in my 5X5 fantasy league. I've discounted saves for so long (always) in fantasy, that I let that slide by. Can't do that in a 5X5 when my closers are Heath Bell and Hector Santiago. Ugh. David Robertsons was already scooped up but Soriano was out there still. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

He's shagged fly balls in the outfield for years, and some, including Torre, remarked that he was the best outfielder on the team not all that long ago.

Well, I guess there isn't precidence as far as what 42 year old relievers should be doing for warm-ups, but you'd think (or hope) that routine would be altered after say age 38 or 39. I don't know, I guess he has earned the right to do whatever he wants, but like I say, this could be a tremendously embarassing end to a Hall of Fame career.

It was a bit of a freak injury so I can see why they allowed him to do it. That said, I think now that its happened the Yanks will think twice before allowing others from doing the same. When Andy Pettite comes up he probably wont be shagging those BP fly balls.

Tough break for MO and not how I want to see anyone have to go out.

Carlos Marmol loses his closing duties.

Marshall isn't going to be losing the closers job. For the most part, he's pitched decent this year and they are not going to move Chapman to that role. I also doubt Jose Arrrndondo will supplant Marshall.

If Marshall loses his closing duties than I will have lost my two main closers in fantasy all in the same week (MO and Marshall) and be down to Downs, Santiago, and a currently injured Santos. Eh, not the end of the world as its only really one stat but still...

Santiago will probably end up losing his job to Thornton or Reed after his next bad outing.

Which will be any day now, he's been pretty terrible so far.

My fantasy fortunes are looking up on the closer front w/ Thornton hopefully moving into the closer spot in Chicago, and my Fernando Rodney-for-Cameron Maybin trade is paying off in the short-term...will be interesting to see what Maddon does with Rodney once Farnsworth comes back...had Mo in one of my leagues but was fortunate to scoop up Robertson off the waiver wire late last night...hopefully, that pans out...not sure if Houston can keep winning, but Brett Myers has been reaping dividends as well.

Dunn is looking good so far, and he should continue to do well once Ramirez catches fire ahead of him in the order...speaking of Chicago, this old-ass Lahair (sp?) rookie is kicking all kind of ass for the Cubs...glad i got him on a couple of my teams.

Pretty much the response I expected from Mo after the immediate reaction of last night was behind him. I think the vast majority of players, at his age, would use it as an excuse to retire, but it's just not what I'd expect out of him. At the very least I figured he would go through the rehab to try to make his way back and, if for some reason it just wasn't going to work out, that'd be the point he'd accept it and retire. I'm glad to hear he hasn't been demoralized and still has plenty of fight left in him.

I'm totally fucked in SVs in my "Pro" league now. I'm sitting on Bell and Santiago. Now I just got to hurry-up-and-wait for someone to either get hurt or demoted. This news seems to leak out when I'm still at work, so I'm hoping to get lucky when I'm watching in the evening or over weekend sometime. I've missed out on the Rivera injury and both Chicago demotions these last couple of days.

This current Rockie homestead has been crazy with the offense. Drew Goodman mentioned during the game last night that there has been over 100 hits during it, just an offensive explosion. Fun to watch for sure, though it also sucks to watch the Rockies have 5-0 leads in both of the last 2 games only to end up losing the game.

Interesting stat: In his career, Chipper Jones has a .304 batting avg - .304 from the right side, .304 from the left. Talk about consistent.

In response to Hamels beaning Harper intentionally.

I thought it was funny seeing Hamels do that given he had maturity issues himself coming up, after hour bar fights and breaking his hand and all, but hopefully this opened a door for a newfound rivalry. East coast rivalries are always the most enjoyable, IMO.

^ I don't think it was as much about the messenger as it was about the message, but good point nonetheless...I like seeing a veteran team like Philly draw a line in the sand, and I liked seeing the Nats not backing down as evidenced by the Hamels beaning a few innings later...on a separate note, I don't think the Nats will be that impacted - at least not on the field - by losing Werth(less)...much like last year, they'll pay through the nose for non-existent performance, but w/ Zimmerman and LaRoche coming back this week they should be more than capable of picking up the slack on the field.

I don't think that Thornton will get another shot at that spot. he failed miserably last year. Sale got the nod, and i think he'll stick there, unless his arm "problem" is worse than expected.

I'm waiting to see how long it is before the Yankees try and grab Garza, Dempster, or Marmol.
The Yanks need pitching, the Cubs have some pitching that they don't really want.
