In advance of Friday’s premiere of the much anticipated Avengers movie, The Sword have announced the release of "Hammer Of Heaven," an early track dating back to 2003 that was not included on Age Of Winters, which the band submitted for inclusion on The Avengers soundtrack album.
Due to severe space limitations, the song did not make the final track listing, but the band, along with their new label partners at Razor & Tie have decided to make "Hammer Of Heaven" available digitally to coincide with the release of the film. The Sword will commence recording their fourth album (and first for Razor & Tie) on June 24th after their appearance at Metallica’s Orion Festival in Atlantic City. The new album is scheduled for a fall release.

I know I'm being selfish here but thank the lord baby Jesus they didn't get on that soundtrack. I would rather not associate any of the bands that I like with washed up, hashed out super hero movies. I know it probably would have been a good paycheck for them, but they'll just have to work harder now. Good for them. Call me a douche, but I dig everything the Sword has done.
