Ah yes. Especially since their fans take to losing so graciously.

i fixed that.

best part of that game was right after penner scored. richards lit burrows up.
burrows got up, and tried to get chippy, and got put right back down. not surprised he whined, just surpised no one was bitten, or had their hair pulled.

if LA goes at them like this all series, it wont last the 7 i predicted. which would be good, because they'll blow that team up.

You're hired!

I think I cheered just as hard for that hit as I did the winning goal. It was nice to see them get the empty netter as well, really seal the deal that the canucks lost at home in front of their shitty fans. I'm sorry, I do have a bone to pick being a) a sharks fan who goes to school in San Jose, and b) living in an area where there are a suprising amount of canucks fans, and c) being a sharks fan.

On another note, Wtf was up with that Sutter hit on Zetterberg? Was there some extracurricular stuff going on to instigate that which the highlights didn't show?

Zetterberg ran him into the boards. thats all.

If that extra shit from Weber doesn't get him at least a 2 game break.....

Peter Laviolette was pretty excited about the Flyers victory last night.

Yeah, Weber better get at least a game or two for that shit.

Darren Helm is out for the remainder of the playoffs after severing tendons in his wrist and having surgery. 3 minutes in to his first game back. Big loss for the Wings.

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Weber a game or two. I also think the Bitz hit will get a gander from the league as well, although that was at least given a major.

Weber NEEDS to be suspended for no other reason than it happened after the game was over.

Weber got fined $2500. That's it; that's the full punishment.

FUCK YOU, SHANAHAN. Weber can spend more than that on dinner if he wants to...I'm sure you taught him a really valuable lesson with forcing him to hand over some pocket-change, and I'm really convinced that all this talk about protecting players heads and sending messages is sincere. I hope the fucker gets Kronwalled into next week...too bad we don't even have an enforcer any tougher than Abdelkader or Ericsson to immediately pummel the shit out of Weber...that's the only justice left after this charade by the NHL.

ETA: This really puts it in perspective...John Tortorella was fined $20,000 for talking shit on the Penguins. So that's 8 times more reprehensible than using two hands to shove a guy's face into the boards.

Utter bullshit.
Swearing is worse than intent to injure?

If this doesn't end all the stupid talk about Shanny's alleged "Detroit bias" I don't know what will.

Fuck Shannahan.

This. I was fine with him at the beginning of this season but it's gotten from bad to way worse. Webbers hit deserved a suspension and Torts barely deserved a slap on the hand (I understand that he's a repeat offender when it comes to swearing, but Brooksy wasn't punished either).

I've never understood the rationale for Shannahan schilling for the Wings (and believe me, I wish it were true so I can hate the Wings more). Because that accusation would imply that Shannahan has been consistent in something, and he has been anything but consistent.

I'm really fucking sick (not just because of this one incident) of this idea that once the playoffs start, that there's some sort of extra leeway for this type of shit, particularly if it's a star player. This has happened before.

All year long, we've been told the league is really cracking down on head-shots and trying to restore some respect in the game, and then this just gets shoved aside. Part of it is because Weber is their star, but the other part that's relevant, which others have pointed out, is the victim...can you fucking imagine how hard the league would have cracked down on Weber if he had done that to Sidney Fucking Crosby?

And I'm not even a Crosby hater, at all. I like the guy. I'll always have a soft-spot for Shanahan from his days as a Red Wing (that motherfucker went to war when he had to), but I've definitely lost respect for him in his current capacity. Either stick to your guns, or hang 'em up.

Careful, it's that kind of talk that cost Tortorella a house payment or three.

The hawks D never met a bad pass that they wouldn't attempt.

But, you would never ever expect a Sean O'donnell & Niklas Hjalmarrsson D pairing to completely forget how to play hockey. No. Not ever.

I saw Bettman last night talking about the fine. He said, essentially, that he suspected there was no suspension because the first hit(the punch) didn't amount to anything, and the second hit(where he put his hand on Henrik's head) wasn't severe because Zetterberg was close to the glass, and Weber didn't "draw back" and hit him, instead he put his hand on his headn and then guided it into the glass.
It's important to note that Bettman didn't participate in the decision, because he's the guy the players or league would appeal Shanahan's decision to, so he said he was just guessing that's why it came down like it did.

That game was ridiculous with the penalties being called, too. Bettman was in attendance, ofc.

Did anyone else notice that the Oilers won the draft lottery again this year? That means they will have the #1 pick three years in a row. Kind of similar to a few years ago when the Penguins had either the #1 or #2 pick for four years straight. They ended up selecting Fleury, Malkin, Crosby and Staal with those picks.

Don't be surprised if they trade down. They really need a defenseman and can probably get one by trading with Toronto at #5 (I think that's right). Pick up a D from Toronto and draft one. Plus, they'll get the bonus that Toronto will screw up and pick the wrong guy at #1.

Big fucking win in Nashville tonight for the Wings...now back to Detroit for the next two games. They came to play tonight...Howard was exceptional in goal, but the Wings won tons of puck-battles on the boards, and looked like a very hungry team. Glad to see Bertuzzi fight Weber around 1:30 into the game...no clear winner to the fight, but it at least set the precedent that the Wings weren't gonna just let that whole debacle go un-challenged.

Fuck yes. Adrenaline, sleep's natural enemy. I don't mind being tired tomorrow. ;)

The Flyers-Penguins series has been awesome to watch. Both games the Flyers were down either 3-0 or 2-0, and they come back to win. I thought Wednesday's was great, but last night's was unbelievable. Two hat tricks and a 6-pt night by Giroux, as well as the game winner by Jagr. Nothing tops playoff hockey.

Is it me or does Luongo continually come up small in the playoffs? With the exception of last year the Canucks always seem to get bounced early. To me it seems Luongo constantly gives up that soft goal. Sure, Daniel Sedin is out, but the Canucks have the talent to do damage and it seems they never do. If the Kings can take 1 of the next 2 at home then then it'll be another early exit for Vancouver.

Psst, yo, Pittsburgh.
Ummm, if you want a shot at this thing you might wanna stop that Giroux guy.
Just a thought.
