Awesome!
Man "The Weirding" was absolutely stuck on continuous play for me for like 2 years.
I loved that album!
I've been wondering what was up with them.

I believe this comes out on Tuesday, thanks for the reminder. I'm really looking forward to it.

Listening to track 1 right now....and it sounds like a straight continuation from their last one. So far so good....looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Now got through the entire album....very much in line with their last one, though this definiely a new album by them and I am sure subsequent listens will bring those new elements more to light, but on one listen the thing that most stood out is that they just kept at what they have been doing. If you liked the last one and are happy for more of that, you'll be happy with this one IMO.

Just listened to this band for the first time after reading this, and this is the reason I love this site. Thanks for starting and commenting in this thread.

Rhyton, Pontiak, and Dwellers are the Big 3 2012 releases for me so far.

i be listening to this now. pirate talk is all played out, and i live the life anyway. you don't like it? talk to the parrot hand, or just beak off entirely. the point being, this is a bit goof troop for my pallet. nice keys, i just aint the type that buys the album because of the keys. i preferred locked doors and dumb songs. the 70's is done for a reason. unless this gets dumb in the second half, it's a one and done for me.

Really curious to hear the new Ancestors and see where they went with it. Artwork for the album pretty awesome.

Can you post a picture of it? Also, where did you find the new Astra leaked at online?

It's good, but in no way better or more engaging than The Weirding.

I thought so too, but I'm slowly changing my mind. It's not as immediately "OMG! AWESOME!" as The Weirding, but that could just be because we've already heard that album and expectations are stupid high. Repeat listens are opening up this one for me. I don't know if The Black Chord will be better than The Weirding, but I'm pretty sure it's a superb follow-up.

I went to my local store last night to pick this up. I live in San Diego which is where Astra lives, right?
Dude had never heard of them. Not too surprising I suppose but usually they are pretty good.

Can't really blame SD, Astra almost never plays out and they have almost no web presence. I feel lucky to have seen them live once.

Yeah, you're right. I called a couple other local stores today to get the new one and one place said, "They only have one album, and it's impossible to get."

Way more YES than Floyd this time. "Cocoon" is bigtime Rick Wakeman worship, which is rad of course.
