I just wish the level of discourse about Israeli policy wasn't so dumbed down in this country. Both parties strongly support Israel (even though one party has a 'holier than thou' approach), the media strongly supports Israel, and yet it appears the Israelis don't even like Netanyahu all that much. But criticize Israel for practicing apartheid or having a clear expansionist policy in this country, and you are lambasted for being an anti-semite or a terrorist apologist.

As far as Horns is concerned: he responds seriously on politics if you propose something serious to him. I don't agree with him on much, but I respect his perspective and analysis of a situation. One major difference in Israel-Palastine is the massive amount of international support that goes Israel's way, and consistent denial of any wrongdoing on their part which we overlook. It's a horrible issue, and I've already been drawn on it more than I want to!

Same with International support for Turkey who hate the Kurds and for Russia who hate the Chechens.

It's not anti-semetic to call Israel out on their bullshit. First, with the hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance involved in what they're doing and playing up the victim card. Secondly, wanting everyone to fall in line with what their holy book says.

That's still not anti-semetic. That could just be ignorance (which isn't inherently a bad thing) to other similar things going on in other places of the World.

There's lots of shit going down that people need to be upset over. Problem is, that there is too much of it for any single person to keep track of. It's unreasonable to expect them to do so.

The papers focus pretty heavily on Isreal's woes as opposed to Russia or Siamtongtamdong or wherever. And by "the papers" I mean the Boston and NYC papers, yes, all of them, for many years. Chechnya got their licks in with that school massacre and the Tamil Tigers had MIA giving them props. But Israel and Palestine really get the lions share, and it's not because I personally asked to hear about it.

I certainly wouldn't blame myself for paying more attention to something that's been shoved in my face by the mainstream media, the government and various left wing groups who's agenda is always in strong opposition to what the former two are advertising...in this case, they oppose the idea of Israel as the victim. Are they making that case because they hate Jews, or because they hate the government and think the media is full of shitake? I'm betting it's the latter. Going against the Jews in this case folds neatly into a resistance to the US' muslim-bashing. Israel is almost collateral damage in the grand game of left vs right. At least in the case of dread-locked college kids vs The New York Post.

Actually, I can say I've heard almost as much about Sudan in the past five or six years. I'll give them that.
