I've been looking for something like this. I almost picked up Rudy Sarzo's book, but the reviews made it sound like he was full of balogna. I was just listening to Gary Moore's solo album from '85 or so last week, Hughes featured prominently on that one.

There was a hilarious Gary Moore-interview in Kerrang around that time. He was bitching about Hughes always emptying the fridge at night and getting fatter and fatter. So despite him singing great they (probably the management) fired him because Hughes didn't qualify as a frontman anymore.

^^Read the same interview, jmucke.

It was funny, but Moore was obviously very pissed about Hughes. I remember him saying something like, "Glenn and I could have done great things together, but he didn't want to know".

The Gary Moore chapter in Glenn's book is really funny. He talks about how much he was eating back then and addresses the famous "Mars Bar" quote from Gary. Glenn says it was actually Cadbury chocolates that he was into back then.

Pretty interesting take by Neil Carter here on the Glenn Hughes/Gary Moore thing. He says it was Mars bars, too!

Ha! It can't be that Glenn's memory has been damaged by all the coke.

Saw this gem in the comments section from the blog-
"I think Glenn’s F.U.N.K. album is the shet. He continues to give Stevie Wonder a run for his money….!"

Also, not to hijack the thread but somewhat related, just finished the Mark Evans autobiography. A must-read for any AC/DC fan. The early part of the book when he talks about his life growing up/pre-AC/DC is a bit chronologically disjointed delivery-wise(he kind of jumps around a lot and it's not very linear), but once he gets to when he joined AC/DC everything locks in and it's smooth sailing. Of particular interest is his description of AC/DC's songwriting/recording process(always my favorite part of music biographies/autobiographies)and his recollections of Bon Scott.

I definitely need to read that. Looks killer. Another autobiography that just came out I want to read is by Bobby Keys. I'm not a big Stones fan but that guy's had quite the life.

I love reading rock-bios but they can be very sobering to the point that it affects enjoying the music. A few years I read "The Saga Of Hawkwind" and realizing how this great band turned into a bunch of grumpy old men bickering over money was not pretty. Some things you just don't wanna know.

My wife just started this after receiving it from Amazon today, along with the Herman Ze German Rarebell autobio.
