New one comin...

Not a lot of talk about these guys, but the lineup is pretty ridiculous in terms of the bands in which they have paid their dues. Can't wait to check em out.

I'm just getting on this train, but i'm digging it. I think Cyrus and Isaiah are going to take it to another level. Not that Howlin' Rain wasn't good before, but those two guys are a couple of the hardest working/playing musicians around.

It's a bummer that Drunk Horse languishes on the shelf while those guys participate in this Jesus Christ Superstar horseshit.

Tell us how you really feel...

In all honesty, I would take Drunk Horse over Howlin' Rain all day long. I loved Comets on Fire. When I first heard these guys I thought, "It's a bummer that Comets on Fire languishes on the shelf while those guys participate in this Jesus Christ Superstar horseshit."

I really really liked the first Howlin' Rain record. Someone maybe on SR.com said it sounds like Steve Turner joined The Black Crowes. The second album sounded good but never really hooked me like the first.

I dig Comets On Fire too but for no particular reason have never given them the time they deserve.

I haven't heard Drunk Horse. I need to fix that then, I guess. Where to start? What am I gettin' into?

That beard is very impressive and all, but I'd much rather see a new Comets on Fire LP happen.

Been diggin' on the new one the last couple of days.

Streaming here:

Wasn't too crazy about it at first but I gotta admit it's grown on me. I think it's tough to digest stuff like this at first. Too many "throw-back" comparisons. The Rubin hype. The vocal melodies. The slick production. The blatant SF boogey/blues/jam/rock worshipping. But I'll be damned if it isn't a pretty fucking good album. It's got variety, atmosphere, emotion, killer guitar work and real, actual singing. I would fully expect to find stems and seeds in the fold of the LP.

Likewise, loved the first album, the 2nd didn't quite click.
However, I'm not sure I can forgive them their terrible cover of Hendrix's Burning Of The Midnight Lamp from their last single.
That is a rocking beard tho

Big Fan here, loved both the first and second album, the second one didn't immeduately click with me as much as the first one, but yeah when it did it was epic!

Looking forward to the new album, the track they released a few weeks ago was excellent.

Having said all tha if i were given the choice of a new Howlin Rain or Comets On Fire album i'd go with Comets.
