Mike Cammileri, Kari Ramo & a pick to Calgary for Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland & a pick.

guess Cam's trade demand was taken seriously.

He's done this move before, but seriously...this is fuckin' sick. Zetterberg, with the shootout game-winner to start the 2nd round. Jimmy Howard made the save against Phoenix right after this to win it.

Smooooooooove.

Montreal has turned into the biggest soap opera this year. The coaching controversy(s) and now this with cam17? oh yeah and scott gomez? ha ha ha

I wonder if playing with iginla if he'll be able to find his form again.

Tough loss for the avalanche last night. Shame too, because giguere looked like his old self in net at times. If nashville found more scoring that team would be absolutely sick.

I just talked to Zetterberg; he said the check is in the mail. Now look what you've done...made Crutch get all weepy about the past.

That goal that Datsyuk scored in the first round of the shootout was sweet too.

I do, but didn't remember him being 6' 6"! Wow. Quite a move for such a big man. Maybe we need a hockey shootout-goal / breakaway thread? I'll be happy to pull up tons of Datsyuk clips. ;)

another good Hawks vs Wings game. Not the best result, but a point nonetheless.
Hey, Black? Does Howard always get out of the net side to side like that?

You mean like on the flub that cost us the first goal? He really doesn't tend to overplay the puck, IMO.

For as much as we dominated the 1st period, the Hawks dominated the 3rd. I thought both goaltenders were exceptional. I was glad we pulled it out in OT, because I would assume the first 3 shooters for the Blackhawks, had it gone to a shoout, would have been Kane, Toews and Hossa. Talk about a scary proposition, wow.

Agreed. Montreal fans aren't used to mediocrity (in terms of their tenure in the NHL since their inception), and having grown up to dislike Montreal fans (there were always shitloads of 'em in the arena here the first time around with the Jets), i'm not traditionally used to this sustained sort of underachieving from them. But despite flashes of brilliance like how far they'd got in last year's playoffs, their lack of depth is obvious this season. Cammaleri has pretty much disappeared this year, and i'm not sure if that's more of an overall team morale issue, but I think that the problem lies in the GM office in Montreal. The moves they've made in firing and hiring staff this year are ridiculous....Cunneyworth is not anywhere near at fault for not speaking French or whatever, it really starts from the top on down with the mismanagement of this organization.

Thankfully for the team, the fans are dedicated enough to support them through these lean times, but if this were a struggling new franchise, it would most likely be a death knell.

Agreed about the Montreal GM.

In fact, a podcast I listen to brought up a good point that we have now seen almost 8 coaches fired and not a single GM this season. It's time for some of these owners to start being honest with themselves about the long term vision of their team.

In Avalanche news, still underwater in 6-1 loss in Phoenix made for a even more painful dentist visit.

Watching the Wings/Sabres game right now...if the Wings win this one (they're up 1-0 late in the 1st period), they will set the all-time franchise record for most home wins in a row, at 15. Their current streak, at 14, dates back to the mid-1960's.

Oh. As I was typing this, Franzen scored to make it 2-0.

EDIT: Oh. As I was walking back to my chair, Lidstrom scored to make it 3-0. How are the Avalanche doing this year?

Well, we traded a first round pick that might just end up being a lottery pick for a finicky (read: Russian) back up goalie.

Also Duchene is injured.

I was being sarcastic for Crutch's sake, even though it's all in fun (as long as my team is winning)...sorry it's not going well, but I actually do think the Avalanche have some really bright years ahead of them with the core they've already built.

Topical: From tonight's shootout win over the Stars in Dallas. I guess Zetterberg taught him Forsberg's move over the weekend.

Not gonna lie, in D.C. we're all hoping the avalanche turn into a giant stinker this season because of that pick. I'm torn about it, but YAKUPOV would look really nice next to a KUTZNETSOV in the red white and blue. However, I highly doubt that will happen. Even if it did, we still wouldn't get past the 2nd round in playoffs haha

Taylor Hall got cut right above the eye when he got tripped up and his teammate, while trying to avoid him, clipped him with his skate. 30 stitches to close the wound.

Sounds like the Red Wings are going to host the Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium.

No, he has a shoulder injury. He is expected back sometime in mid-February.

Yeah, that kid makes a difference. Hope he stays healthy.
Nice comeback win tonight for the Avs.

Didn't get a good look, did Stasny hit that out of mid-air for the tying goal?
