For anyone who's been confused about the Zelda timeline (like wait, he's a kid, and now he's an adult, and now he's a kid, and now he's a Goron? Wolf?), Nintendo has seemingly released an official timeline of the games. And guess what? It's just as confusing as you might expect.

This is confusing and makes my head hurt. It's one game or all the games? Also, what's a Minish Cap and who's Zelda and why am I so old?

All games. Green side = game titles and major events in them.

More importantly, what are all those goddamn kids doing on your lawn?

I don't think I ever would have guessed that there was a continuity split with OoT, especially in the way it's done there.

I'm assuming the "-" are placeholders for future games? If so then the plot of the one before The Twilight Era has to be about Ganondorf being resurrected and banished to the Twilight Realm.

Minish Cap was the only original GBA Zelda game. It's supposed to be really good but I haven't played it.

Anyway, that book looks pretty great. I hope they get an English version to the States for those that don't speak moon.

"Link's Awakening" was awesome. I wish I could play it one more time, but the Game Boy is long gone. I heard you can download old shit for the Wii, but I'm an XBox guy.

You can probably get a refurbished or pre-owned cheap GBA at a game store to play that. And if you have a Super Nintendo around, there's that convert-to-Game Boy games "Super Game Boy" cartridge that can be found online for cheap.

I remember that thing, vaguely. you could do 4-colors. I knew one guy that had it, but I feel like it was relatively late in the SNES timeline. I didn't even know they ever made a game strictly for Advance, either. I gave up the hand held games after the original Game Boy, but "Link's Awakening" was right behind "Link To The Past" in my eyes, and maybe the best Game Boy game. Although Mario Land 2 certainly had it's charms.

You think that's fucked? Imagine my surprise at age 10 when I played Zelda for the first time in about 1988 and found out that Zelda wasn't the character that was actually Link; and that my shield had got eaten in the dungeon by that slimy motherfucker that looks like a couchstool. That's some heavy water cooler talk down in the schoolyard.

Nowadays, you have memory cards and save points (if you play ROM's), but back then, it was a massive crisis when you just spent an hour making huge headway, only to get your shield eaten between a save point that was close enough that you didn't lose a shitload of progress.
