Thank baby Jesus for NBA chatter, this MNF game is putting me to sleep.

Okay, the Nets owner IS RUNNING FOR FUCKING PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA?!??!? Now if the Bulls crush them in the playoffs, are we going to get nuked? If he wins, will Putin assassinate D.Will? Will David Stern be fired, then made head of the KGB? Can we trade someone, anyone, to get that sexy spy back?

Dallas repeats. I said Dallas was going to win before last season started when they got those trades. a team will beat any 2 ballhogs any day.

Glad to see Nene is sticking around.

What a moron.

Vetoing that trade doesn't actually allow them to keep CP3.

ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Clippers and NBA-owned Hornets have agreed in principle for a deal sending Chris Paul and two future second-round picks to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and a Minnesota first-round pick.
Finally. It still needs to be officially approved, but appears the CP3 saga has come to an end. We're not sure what changed the NBA's mind to approve the deal, nor do we care. The question now becomes, how will Chauncey Billups react to this news? This deal is expected to be approved later tonight by the NBA. It's also believed that Paul has opted in for next year, guaranteeing he'll play with Blake Griffin for the next two seasons, at least.

Chis Paul to Lakers for Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Lamar Odom, Goran Dragic and a 2012 no. 1 pick (via the New York Knicks).

What an awesome move for the future, right?

The Minnesota pick should be a nice one but after that they traded for a really nice SG who is injury prone and due to be a restricted free agent after this season, a center who will be an unrestricted free agent, and someone I never heard of (which doesn't make him bad, but I doubt he's the player that pushes the deal ridiculously in NO's favor).

I guess future is a relative term but their view of the future seems a little short sighted. Maybe it's my fault but when I heard Stern say they wanted any CP3 deal to be one that can help them into the future I assumed he meant beyond 2012.

Yeah. my take exactly. But if they had taken the Laker deal, NO could have gone for Billups or Beno Udrih or another pg to match with 3 talented players. Al-Farouq Aminu was actually the #8 draft pick last year, so he has upside, but he's not Lamar Odom.

Sticky.. 32 year old Odom vs 22 year old Gordon who can put up 20+ a night

New O got a star guard not just a bunch of 30 year olds people are trying to dump

I mean right now it seems things are changing, as of late over the past year or so.

Hey, Trent, you old Kobe hater! Dude is hating life right now, fo' sure - no Laker trades, no Phil Jackson and now his wife is leaving him.

NO could have moved Odom to 10 teams though, or kept him for the Kardashian factor, which (sadly) is actually a draw at the gate. Gordon's great when he's healthy, but I might take Kevin Martin over him. That MN pick is far, far better though -- that team will suck.

my problem is that i would have traded gordon for paul straight up and make them take kamans contract. i feel like david stern ripped the clippers off because of his hunger for power. for basketball reasons of course

Pretty fun game tonight between the Clippers and the Lakers. Or at least that was the case for the first half. Lakers looked a bit too loose overall and just fell apart in the second half, but the Clippers look like they've gelled pretty well together already. Yeah yeah, hard to get an accurate read from a single pre-season game, but I got the impression that the Clippers are going to be a really fun team to watch play this season. They weren't holding back with the theatrics tonight.

Billups was deadly tonight, but I saw him stink it up plenty on my fantasy team last year, so I'll wait and see. He and Butler and Kobe were just draining shots like crazy for awhile. I like McRoberts, Troy Murphy could bounce back and Kopono is a proven 3 shooter, but the Clippers looked so much better than the Lakers that it's hard not to wonder what might have been w/o Adolf Stern stealing CP3. Hubbard at 6'9" is a weak Clips backup center, they need to trade a guard for height still. But there were glimpses that they could be the most exciting team in the league this year, when it was all working.

I noticed Kobe's growing a goatee -- same style goatee worn by Jordan when he made his last comeback in Washington and failed to make the playoffs. Is it a signal from Kobe that he knows it's over for him, too?

Kobe's wife left, even she knows they won't let him in the same company as Jordan with 6 rings. Dallas repeats, but a lot of focus will be marketing these young players because their games won't speak for themselves. stage Derrick Rose plays so his shooting percentage goes up, because every play he just drives into a trap and turns the ball over or takes a terrible shot, but he's MVP for being a ball hog.

yeah he's like 19 and didn't play last year, #1 pick overall, but my eyes opened up the first two times he had the ball, or so, and seen his highlights from the previous game, but then seen he has a long fucking way to go and I'd school the piss out of him. it's only 5 players, and 5 on the other team, aint like a football team or anything, I might not understand all that.

Loved all the shit the Knicks crowd was giving Kris Humphries. A small taste of what's to come for the rest of the season, hopefully.
