I remember reading that his favorite band is Throwdown who are from Orange County. He's also straightedge and has a tattoo of an "X".

The Mets announced they are moving Citi Field's walls in and lowering their height next season.
The walls will move in by as much as 12 feet and lowered by up to eight feet. In addition, the walls will be changed to the color blue. New York's ballpark dimensions led to a 3.78 ERA in games played at Citi Field, the sixth-lowest in the major leagues. Cavernous dimensions were also blamed for David Wright's zapped power, which produced about 30 homers a year at Shea and 18 in Citi. In terms of fantasy impact, the situation here is pretty self explanatory. Fly-ball New York pitchers lose a bit of value and hope for a reemergence from Wright begins.

About time.

I like bigger ballparks but Citi Field was too much.

Design isn't bad, usage of the colors is.

Too bad for the Marlins that a good design won't translate into more fans...can't believe they're gonna christen a new stadium/mausoleum just so it can remain empty during baseball games..the upside will be that Ozzie Guillen's profanity-laced tirades will be clear for all to hear w/o the crowd noise.

C'mon now, the new Marlin Stadium is going have a roof so fans won't be stuck outside in the humid and wet summer days. It'll make all the difference, just look at how well it works for the neighbors in Tampa.

The artist renderings of the Marlins stadium look awesome. I'm really looking forward to getting down there one day.

A new stadium at least will pack the people in for a few years. When I was at Minneapolis at the tail end of a 99 loss season, they were still bringing in +30K people. Granted the fanbase up there is probably a bit more hardcore/loyal than that of South Florida, but the Marlins have a decent core of players and are going to land at least one big name free agent in this offseason.

The Phillies signed Jim Thome to a 1 year/$1.25 million deal.

Kind of a weird signing, you think? I guess $1.25MM is "cheap". The Yankees are paying Sabathia over a million per win, so if Thome wins them a game (which he probably can) he pays for himself if you're wanting to compete on the Yankees/Boston's level, which the Phils seem to want to be doing. He is a hell of a good guy; you have to root for him. Still very strange he ended up in the NL. No way he should be put at 1B unless Howard is pulled for a pinch-runner/pitcher.

Thome will be the left handed power bat off the bench and nothing else. He may get an occasional start but John Mayberry Jr will be the starting first baseman until Howard comes back from his injury. I can't say I'm against this signing but the Phillies need to get younger not older but Thome will be great in clubhouse. I'm sure in the long run this will be a good move by the Phillies but right now the excitement level is at a minimum.

I am getting the sense that the Mets are letting Reyes go. They seem to be leaving the door open for Reyes in case his market isn't what he is expecting and his price tag is lowered into a range that the Mets are willing to pay, but that seems unrealistic. Personally, I am hoping he stays with them as he's my favorite Met but I am not too hopeful.

David Wright trade talk is picking up again too. Mets could go into next season looking like a Triple A team. Ouch.

Being a AAA team mostly worked out for them this season. They had a ton of players step up, but Reyes being the MVP for 2/3rds of the season was the big component. I sort of think they should pony up for Reyes and let Wright go, but quite of few of those players probably look a lot better next season after they've moved those fences in (Wright and Bay at least).

They're probably in a holding pattern for the next couple of years like the Dodgers have been until their ownership's legal/tax problems are behind them. I laffed when Matt Kemp said Prince Fielder was signing with the Dodgers. Yeah, with WHO signing that check?!?!?!

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Rays "are expected to be willing" to trade Wade Davis this offseason.
Cafardo writes that the Rays are willing to listen to offers for James Shields, but, not surprisingly, they'd prefer to deal Davis for an outfielder or a catcher. Davis, 26, posted a 4.45 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 29 starts this season and could be under team control through the 2017 campaign.

Rockies could be a fit.

whoever scouts the Rays pitching deserves a raise. they are sick and will continue to be sick, trading pieces like Davis off while continuing with something like a $50MM payroll.

One rumor that I keep hearing is Wright to the Phillies for Worley and Domonic Brown. If I were the Phillies I would do it in a heartbeat. Wright would shore up 3B for the 7 years and I really think that Worley is going to get rocked this year. Teams willbebetter prepared to face him, and as i've said since his forst call up in 2010, Brown will never pan while he is a Phillie. It's time the Phils move him before his value gets even lower. Although, I highly doubt that this rumor will come true.

I'd keep Reyes and trade Wright too.

It is too bad for LA fans that their ownership situation is a mess as Fielder would be a great fit there. Him and Kemp in the 3-4 holes would be dangerous.

I read some posts by Mets fans referring to this. I would hate to see Wright traded to a division rival.

+1.

I'd have thought Anaheim would have worked harder at trying to lure Andrew Friedman for their then vacant GM spot than they did.

that would be a fantastic trade for both teams. they both need to make this trade happen. worley would be great in the mets rotation and brown would be great in rf for the mets. david wright would benefit greatly from playing in philly. ive heard that the scouting department and GMS for these small market clubs like tampa, kc and minn are rabid loyal to their organizations. maybe thats why the angels didnt pursue andrew friedman.

Howard will miss a sizable chunk of the season with that ruptured achilles, no?
The question is, can he even play 1B any more? I don't foloow AL baseball very closely , so I dont know if he spent any time there this year. I cant see him having much range. Maybe they'll get a spark out of him, and with Howard down, they do need a left handed bat....
kinda surprised they didnt pursue Carlos Pena.

they will probably do exactly what the rockies do with jason giambi. he is the teams dh and pinch hitter. he had 13 homeruns this past season doing that and that is what i see for thome
