Goddamn it. Bottom of the Cards lineup coming. I really doubt they can pull two 2 run comebacks out of their hat, consecutively.

As awesome as the back and forth is, the Cards are leaving a shit ton of runners on base...mixed emotions...the glory of the comeback, the agony of the inability to seal the deal...

What a steal Berkman was for St. Louis. He's having a hell of a game. I thought my eyes were fucking up when I checked and he'd scored four run here, on top of his hitting and RBIs.

It definitely feels like Texas will ultimately win a war of attrition. Washington has really only pulled Young from the starting lineup. All the other heavy hitters are still in there.

This is like that Cubs NLCS. You know Texas will lose Game 7. You know they will. Because they were this close. It's scripture.

Freese is the fucking man...clutch doesn't even begin to cover what he's done, at least three times in the playoffs.

That was a crazy game, glad I got home in time to watch the last few innings. The more of this series I watch though the more I find myself rooting against LA Russa and Pujols.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies "will make another aggressive run" at the Astros' Wandy Rodriguez over the offseason.
It's not surprising, as the Rockies claimed Rodriguez on waivers in August but were unable to work out a deal for the left-hander. Renck says that the Rox were willing in August to take on the remainder of Wandy's contract (he'll make $36 million over the next three years if his 2014 option is picked up) but balked at the Astros' asking price of Drew Pomeranz and Wilin Rosario. Assuming Colorado is still willing to absorb the rest of Rodriguez's contract, the Astros seem likely to lower their demands over the winter.

That's a ridiculous asking price, not even taking into account financials.

I like Wandy Rodriguez, would be happy to see him land in Colorado but if the Rockies give up their prized possession in the Ubaldo trade for him I will not be happy.

Matt Holliday now off the WS roster. With the way Allen Craig is playing that the Cardinals probably wont notice his absence (might even be better off) but given Holliday was the one piece to that team I could root for his absence will be felt by me.

All this does is allow LaRussa to make an extra bench move which he probably won't need to make, but as we all saw in Game 5 sometimes over analyzing the matchups can turn out to be costly.

Giants/Angels in 2002... Giants had it in game 6 when Baker handed Ortiz the "game ball." After they blew that one, even SF fans knew that game 7 belonged to Anaheim.

True, true. This one only really felt like a contest for that first half inning when Texas jumped up 2-0 to start.

In all a very satisfying World Series and really MLB season. I had a hell of a lot of fun watching it this summer. Baseball is the greatest game invented by man.

Hot stove time!!!

I do kind of feel bad for Ron Washington. But really, the guy is just a glorified bench coach. He was pretty thoroughly outmanaged in this series, even with all of LaRussa's missteps. That's two years in a row the guy has gone into the World Series with easily the better team and walked away with no titles to show for. This team is built to be top-knotch competitive for awhile, so I don't think Nolan Ryan is going to have any choice but to fire Washington and pick up someone with big game experience like Francona to manage.

For a World Series I couldn't have cared less about, I got way more entertainment than I was expecting. Game 7 was pretty anticlimactic, though.

+1.

Ended up finding myself disappointed that St. Louis ended up winning. Once Holliday was removed the roster I had more interest in seeing the Rangers win their first WS than anything else. Oh well.

The only thing I thought Washington did that was really wrong was not start his best pitcher last night. I am sure his players (at least at the time) appreciated his loyalty to his guys but it always seemed like a bad decision. Napoli batting so low in the lineup was wacky too but I don't think the reason they lost.

But lets bring on the hot stove indeed.
