These are all courtesy of an old buddy of mine named Justin Smith. Most are for show flyers from when I was booking consistently, but there's also an awesome illustration of the Mothers of Invention & an album cover for Atomic Number 76 he was commissioned for.

This show got bumped back a couple of weeks, so he made a new flyer for it which is below.

This bill was off the motherfuckin' chain!

Funny story about that show. At the time, I was still working at TVT Records & was (still am) very friendly with one of their top A&R guys. I'd been into SOTL for a while, so was completely amped that I had booked them. I opened my office door to go tell my boy and he was standing there with a copy of "When White Becomes Black" in his hand fresh from a visit to Generation Records. He was all like, "Dude, you need to listen to this right now, it's fucking awesome!", to which I told him I literally just booked the show 2 minutes prior. Quite a coincidence. Anyway, about a week before the show, I got a call from a manager at Sanctuary asking me to put this new up & coming band on the bill as an industry showcase sort of thing. It was Early Man. They showed up with a 100 person guest list, brought at least 70 people (all on the list, not 1 paid), and were okay at best - they were a 3 piece at this point, but not with Dave Pajo of Slint fame. My buddy stood by me at the door and it was like he was in a receiving line saying hello to all the industry peeps. They all thought he was there for Early Man, but little did they know the best band of the night was after. I think he pretty much kept it to himself except for a couple of the Roadrunner people that he knew would be into it & not just from a business standpoint. It was great to see the perplexed look on all the hardcore kids faces when the place filled to capacity for an hour by a bunch of suits for a faux-Metallica set, then emptied and SOTL completely crushed the joint. The sound guy said it was the loudest band he'd ever had at the Pyramid.

Back to artwork - this one my buddy Justin did years ago for shits & giggles since we're both huge Clutch fans. It got posted on Pro-Rock & then people actually started making bootleg shirts of the design. The band thought the likeness was spot on. Neil was based on Hank Scorpio if I remember correctly.

Here be the latest Admiral Browning album artwork for 'Battle Stations'. It's a digipak with a 8 panel (4 each side) poster glued in. Furnace MFG of my ole town Fairfax VA is printing and putting them together and I couldn't be more happier dealing with them.

This is by Nick Keller who works at Weta Workshop in Wellington (they're involved in the design stuff for lord of the rings/hobbit). He just won best album artwork at the New Zealand silver scrolls (music awards).

It was for the first Beastwars album. This the cover and inside. You guys should check them out. They're badass
