Does anyone want to split the costs with me? I'll get it the first and third weeks of a month while you get it the second and fourth weeks of the month.

Starting price is $3000? Jeezus, that's crazy money.
Jeff Nelson lives about 2 blocks from where I work, in a huge mansion in Toledo's "Old West End" area. Must be trying to pay the heating bills with the proceeds.

All of Jeff Nelson's eBay listings are great - totally OCD and filled with incredibly precise details about everything. He practically tells you which brand of photocopier was used to make a 30 year old flyer. I've never bought anything from him but I love reading his listings for the old HC stuff he sells.

So weird. I always bug out on why anyone would want to spend so much money on something that they could listen to for under $10. Like those Fix singles, and I love the Fix, but still, a fucking 7" record is not worth $1,500 dollars. What do they do? Stare at it and jerk off? Why?

You spend a lot of money on something like that because it's a historical artifact. Like Napoleon's penis, or Stickman.

Yeah but, who has $5,000 to drop on a fucking hardcore 7"? I mean, if I had money like that I would not spend it on THAT.

Maybe it will be purchased by the Smithsonian?

I mean, I have recently increased the amount of money I'm willing to spend on a record to keep up with inflation and market demands but man, gotta tell ya, I really have a hard time paying more than $20 for a used record, especially when I get pretty much anything on MP3 FUCKING FREE AS A BIRD, and it better be a fucking rare ass awesome record.

When do "historic artifacts" and wild prices go hand-in-hand?

Uh... perhaps when it's a record that's really fuckin' good and a key piece of the history of hardcore.

I'll pay something for a record (not $3,000.00 - maybe $40.00?) but I don't collect test pressings. I'd rather just have a first pressing with the art.

This reminds me - my old college roommate was from the D.C. area and went home once during the Summer and hit a garage sale that included a bunch of really great early Discord records. Among the records was I think the 2nd Minor Threat 7" - possibly a first pressing of it. Maybe it was their first 7". I can't remember. Even back in 1990 that would have been a big fucking deal. I think the seller was the mom of the guy whose records these were and my roommate said something like "Are you sure that your son wants to sell these?" because he really didn't want to be the guy that bought some poor dude's awesome records that were being sold without his consent. The woman insisted that he didn't care about them so for very little, my pal picked up that record and a bunch of other classic D.C. stuff. Lucky fucker!
