For me it's Never Turn Your Back on a Friend. Can't seem to get into If I Were Brittania,I'd Waive the Rules though. Squawk and the first album are tied for second.

Any BUDGIE fans up in this???

I need to seriously re-visit Budgie. I only have 1 or 2 tapes and need to get the rest of the classics. Did they ever remaster the catalog? The Budgie CD's I own have some of the lowest levels in my collection.

Yes, but they (kind of) modernized their sound. There were even some re-makes as bonus, and man they sounded like a mix of 80s and 00s metal music (in a bad sense if you dig their 70s sound).

My fave Budgie albums will always be their earliest ones.
Their discography exemplifies the rock/metal transition.

If I was forced to pick just one album, I´d say SQUAWK.
Happily I´m not forced.

Nobody ever says it but "Bandolier" is damn near flawless.

I dig em', but I don't have a particular favorite album, really. Never Turn Your Back on a Friend or the s/t are probably up there, though.

Budgie's box set An Ecstasy of Fumbling is really good retrospective that covers all the highlights of their career.

Does anyone actually like their 80's stuff too?? I've heard very little but lately that one album Deliver Us from Evil isn't that bad. I don't like alot of 80's music but that's actually a good album from 1982.

Bandolier is awesome from what I've heard.... that's the one album with 'Breaking all the House Rules'. Yeah that one rules.

Again If I Were Brittania... is the only Budgie album from the 70's I don't like. I dunno why, just everytime I try listening to that one I find it kinda boring. They kinda made up for it with Impeckable.

I'm a big fan of Impeckable, believe it or not. I think Squawk comes slightly ahead of that one, though.

Bandolier also rocks hard.

easily:

Never Turn Your Back on a Friend

Tony and Shelly never sounded better

And it has their best songs (Breadfan, Baby Please Don't Go, & Parents)

And their best cover (by Roger Dean...)

ALSO: I saw them back around 1977/78 at the Roxy in Hollywood!

In for the Kill is a really HEAVY album. Squawk is awesome too. So those 2 tied for 1st.

I agree Never turn your back and Bandolier are not nearly on that level for me.
