FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ripple Music and Big Dude Productions are proud to announce that the California-based hard rock record label will be sponsoring the first annual 2012 Metroplex Heavy Fest in Dallas, Tx. on July 27th & 28th, 2012! The festival will be held at The Boiler Room, owned by Steve Benton of Drowning Pool, and will celebrate some of the regions hardest and heaviest acts, including special headlining preformances from Wo-Fat and Earthen Grave (featuring members of doom legends, Trouble). The event will be hosted by Dave Sherman (Spirit Caravan/Earthride/WeedisWeed) and will feature raffles, live recordings of the performances, and special guest appearances.

"To be approached by Big Dude Productions to be a part of this event was somewhat surrreal," states John Rancik and Todd Severin of Ripple Music. "We love heavy music. We love supporting heavy music. We love the guys who create the music and have the hard stuff running through their veins. What better way to give back to the scene than get involved and help keep it vibrant and alive?"

Thanks for posting Mr. h.p. taskmaster, you rock brother. This is going to be an awesome show. We haven't had a stoner/doom fest in DFW for a couple of years since the last Dallas Doom Daze, so its time to kick it back into gear. And I have to give kudos to Jotun from Kin of Ettins and founder of Dallas Doom Daze for consulting with us some through the process of getting this show organized. I worked with Big Dude Productions on the lineup and I can tell you that there is not one weak band on the bill top to bottom. The level of talent in the heavy rock genre(stoner/doom/sludge whatever you want to call it, doesn't matter) in Dallas/Fort Worth is almost mind blowing. We had to turn down a ton of local, regional and even a few national bands who were all great and wanted to be on the show.

While it is structured to be mainly a local festival, we were fortunate to have the amazing Earthen Grave from Chicago want to participate and headline night two, I think this is their first Texas appearance. And of course we have Texas swamp stoner doom blues heavyweights and Small Stone recording artist Wo Fat headlining the first night.

And how can you beat having having the legendary Dave Sherman MCing the event - Dave just an amazing guy and I wouldn't be surprised if gets on stage and jams a few songs with some of the bands -- we'll try to convince him to.

I'm a big fan of all of the bands on the show but I'm going tell everybody right now to keep an eye and ear open for Mothership, FTW, Pothead Goat, and Big Sandy Gilmer - four of my personal favorites that I think the rest of the country will be hearing about more in the future. There is truly not one weak band on this show!

Right on, Brian. This is going to be a killer event. I'm floored that y'all got Earth Grave on the bill. They are an absolutely stellar band & a good bunch of folks. Dave Sherman as MC is also an incredible turn of events. This thing can't get here soon enough.

Big Jay was the one who got Earthen Grave and Dave Sherman out. He really is doing just a stellar job on this. There is even more to come!

I'm sure Ripple's UK bands wouldn't be averse to being flown out to play this ;)

First lineup change - great new local up and comer The Velia Shrine, who were selected to open the festival, have disbanded. Sucks in that they were a great band and we were really excited to give them a bigger platform to get their name out on. But digging into the long reserve list, we have added a killer new stoner rock up and comer in the scene as the opener - Turbo Motorhome.

Scott and one of the other guys from Velia are working on a new project so we should have some more killer music in a few months hopefully.
