Throne are a young new band who have started making a name for themselves on the London scene, already achieving support slots with such UK luminaries as Astrohenge and Rise Above’s Moss. In their short time, Nicos Livesey (guitar & vox), Will Michael (bass) and Julia Owen (drums) have already successfully honed their skills, and it shows. Their sound is steeped in the finest of stoner doom traditions; expect stripped-down monolithic riffs, delivered at a pace which drags you along while beating you into submission, soulful vocals, and drums which ably pick up the pace or throttle it to a crawl as the considered song structures demand. Other than Desertfest 2012, they have showcases set this year as far afield as the annual SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, where they will be flying the flag for British doom and teaching the yanks a thing or two about where it all started.
