Miguel Cabrera threatened the lives of patrons at a Florida bar before his February DUI arrest.
The story just keeps getting worse for Cabrera. According to a police document released Wednesday, the slugger walked into Cowboys Bar-B-Q & Steak Co after last call and was asked to leave. He ignored that request and then told a group of people at a nearby table that he had a gun in the bag he was carrying. "You don't know me," Cabrera told a manager moments later. "I will kill you. I know all of you, and I will kill all of you and blow this place up." He has enrolled in behavioral counseling.

Only got to see about 20 minutes of Dodgers/Mariners, but it was enough to watch Garland grab his side and disappear for the next month+. Padilla down too, Dodgers talking about opening with a 4 man rotation.

Go Lakers!

Dodgers 4 man rotation is still better than the Mets 5 man.

Besides, teams can get away with a 4 man rotation for that first month.

Johan is out until around the all star break.

Dickey was a great story last year. I am hesitant to expect a repeat though.

Pelfrey and Niese are nice pieces but best at the middle to back end of a rotation, imo.

Young can be decent enough back end guy at this point but I have little trust in Young maintaining his health. Capuano I don't know enough what to expect exactly from him but I actually have some hope for him.

Yanks have a much better offense, a nice bullpen, and the two best pitchers* between them. I personally think the Yanks are in a much better position of the two.

Plus, you got to consider they make at least one move for pitching at some point this season. Mets, on the other hand, are financially handcuffed from doing anything positive so there is no hope.

Dodgers begged hundreds of millions from Rupert Murdoch and got bitchslapped by MLB this offseason. I'll root for them, but I won't spend a dollar that would go to the McCourts this year.

yeah the mets are going to have to dump beltran, reyes, francisco, and maybe even david wright. i hope mark cuban steps in and buys the mets because the wilpons no longer deserve to own a baseball team

If the Mets trade Wright....I don't know what I'll do. Reyes is actually my favorite Met but Wright is the one player on that team, given his age and contract, that you MUST keep. Period. There's an argument to be made for trading the other guys, but Wright is just inexcusable. If you can't keep Wright then you have no right owning a baseball team.

I'd LOVE to see Cuban in MLB but it does seem like the owners don't want to have to deal with him and are doing what they can to prevent him entering the program.

And I will say that even though the Mets seem doomed to fail this year, it is kinda nice to see them back in the underdog role where they always seem to do their best. Kinda looking forward to a year where the hype machine is low with them.

Here's to hoping I am wrong though.

I don't care if the Yanks succeed or fail (though would love to see Arod fail miserably) but do care how my Mets do.

Fortunately for me, I at least have the local Rockies to leach onto.

I'm swooping in from out of nowhere. Will probably be checking in here from time-to-time now that the season's about to start.

Heading down to Lakeland, Florida tomorrow for my annual Spring Training trip. Looking forward to some warm air and good baseball. Will be interesting to see just how fat Miguel Cabrera is these days...

Enjoy.

I head out on Monday to AZ for my trip, looking forward to it. Get to check out the new Rockies/D'Backs ST Stadium, which should be nice.

Mets finally released Luis Castillo, next up will hopefully be Oliver Perez. Mets don't reaally have a legit 2b option but who really cares. This isn't a win now season, no reason to hold onto an old on declining Castillo.

The Phillies supposedly have some interest in Castillo. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't sign him.

he would fit nice at the top at that lineup while utley is hurt. utley may be hurt for the rest of his carreer. he is obviously injury prone

Philly can take Castillo with his no power, declining speed and defensive range, and poor attitude.

you think that maybe mets fans are the cause of his poor attitude? i know i wouldnt want to play for you guys. he dropped that catch 3 years ago and you guys never let him live that down. yet he need to stop bunting as much, but to say he has no speed is crazy. he was like 8 of 11 last year in steals during very limited play. that percentage is good. if you look at his stats over 600 at bats he steals at least 25 bases and you put that philly lineup around him then sure he could hit 280. shit dude he was on pace to score nearly 100 runs last year if he would have played 162 games. dont hate on the guy just because he fucked your team over

so jealous of you guys and your spring training trips. i have always wanted to do so, but have never been able to work it out. it's on the bucket list for sure.

so, kiddies, any big pre season predictions? who's gonna go the distance and win it all.

NL West - SF (pitching too great)
NL Central - Cincy (starters and votto are better than a declining cards team)
NL East - Philly (that rotation is devastating, but no utley.....)
NL Wild Card - Milwaukee (big off season moves pay off in weak division)
NL Pennant - Philly - i figure they make a trade for a bat (michael young?) and then blow away the competition.

AL West - Texas (felt like they overachieved last year, but division kinda on decline)
AL Central - White Sox (twins pen is a huge ?, detroit always seems to find way to blow it)
AL East - Boston (huge run support will help a pretty good rotation)
AL Wild Card - Yankees (whatever they dont have now, they will get before the deadline)
AL Pennant - Yankees - this is the last ditch effort for a lot of the guys on this team. they will play like it.

Champs - Philly - in playoffs, pitching beats bats. Philly over NYY in 6.

and there you have it....

NL West - LA Dodgers
NL Central - Cincy Reds
NL East - Philly
Wildcard - Colorado Rockies

AL West - Oakland A's
AL Central - Chicago White Sox
AL East - Boston Red Sox
Wildcard - Minnesota Twins

AL East - Boston (Kinda think that Crawford/A-Gon nullify losing contract year Beltre and V-Mart, but NYY and Tampa have fallen back, so they get this)
AL Central - White Sox (Nearly playoff quality before, signing Dunn puts them over the top)
AL West - Anaheim (Back to the status quo in this division. Don't trust Texas' pitching or Josh Hamilton's health)
AL Wild Card - Yankees (again, too much talent to deny)

NL East - Philadephia (They should win this division by ten games)
NL Central - St. Louis (A surprise, but Duncan gets pitching in order, Albert crushes everything in contract year)
NL West - San Francisco (Dominant pitching gets them by again, offense is not as bad as advertised)
NL Wild Card - Atlanta (They aren't elite, but getting in is more of an indictment of not many good NL teams)

World Series - Philadephia over Boston (Phils have just too much pitching. Amaro probably makes a trade to fill in for an aging offensive player (Utley, Rollins, Ibanez, Polanco))
