Anyone see the first couple of shows? Thoughts?

It's good to see a "freer" sort of Melvins experience with the acoustic but i think it's missing a sizeable something without at least Dale along for the ride on drums. I remember before Trevor Dunn joined to form Melvins Lite, Buzz and Dale did a few shows together on their own under the Lite banner. That was really cool i thought and it would be great to have a Melvins album at some point with just those two on it.

I love that tone Buzz gets from his acoustic...but yea I think Dale up there with him also would make it even more awesome. I can totally imagine Dale on the bongos.

Overall it's good. Feels like campfire songs!

I'm willing to be this will be better than the last couple of times I saw the Melvins in the UK....for that reason alone, sold.

What times were those?

I saw them on the Endless Residency thing in a small venue a mile or so from here and they KILLED IT.

Brighton in 2012 and London 2011. Didn't mean for that to sound quite so damning - I have seen them plenty and couple of their shows have been up in my top ten. But those times were slightly flat for me, for whatever reason.

Im actually of the belief that this acoustic solo album will be better than the last few Melvins releases. Or at least more coherent anyway.

Love Buzz. Love the Melvins. But I gotta say the acoustic thing isn't cutting it for me.

Part of the fun of the Melvins is the excessive volume, ridiculous feedback, and the electricity bouncing around the room. Add Dale, and any number of bassists they've worked with, and it doesn't get much better.

I do agree though, even Dale on bongos or buckets would be a huge improvement.

All that said, I'm stoked for Buzzo. Once again, he's doing it his own way and cares fuck-all what people think. Chalk it up for another interesting/strange chapter in the glorious life of one of thee greatest bands of all time.
